Power Poppy 3 marker Challenge

I think I might have a crack at this one… sorry for the late notice, I only just found it.  I picked up some Power Poppy stamps last year,  you may have seen the daffodil image in past projects.  I kinda enjoy the monochrome style, so this challenge should be fun.  It doesn’t hurt I have Chameleon Pens at my disposal either  ….  🙂 I wonder if the blender capabilities of the Chameleons is ok??, technically it’s just one marker…right?

Have you heard about the 3 Marker Challenge? Google it to find tons of videos on YouTube that show artists creating with only 3 markers. The real rules say you have to choose 3 markers at random (close your eyes and just pick) and whatever you pull out, you colour with! There’s some pretty creative things out there and really gifted artists. For this month with Power Poppy, I’m going to go a little easier on you. I’m asking you to choose one of three options:

Power-and-Spark_Graphic_April16

1.  Pick three markers from the same colour family to create a monochromatic design

2.  Pick three markers from complementary colour families  – (this will be easier to blend, for example red, yellow, orange or blue, green, purple)

3.  Or, for the courageous or expert: Pick three random markers and colour away!

Remember only 3 markers! They can be alcohol-based or water-based, your choice. Use only 3 markers to colour!

THE OFFICIAL RULES:
  • Use Power Poppy stamps if you have them, but if you don’t, this is a great way to WIN them
  • Link your creation below using our Linky (please use the exact URL from your post instead of a generic blog address.)
  • Please mention Power Poppy in YOUR blog or gallery post with a link back to THIS challenge
  • The winner will receive a free clear or digital stamp set of choice from the Power Poppy Shop
  • Enter as many cards as you’d like, as long as they fit the theme of the challenge!
  • Deadline to enter is April 30th @ 8:00pm EST.  At that point, we’ll draw the winner randomly and make the announcement right here on the first Friday of May!

Quick and Easy Sympathy Card & Another Die Giveaway

Ok, this one came together quicker than expected, so here is my sketch No 4 card for our Monthly Sketch Challenge over on the message board and it includes the Extra Credit for making a sympathy card. Now this is a Gazillion miles outside of my comfort zone… It’s way softer and more feminine than my usual typical style.  But as a friend told me, sometimes it’s good to step  out of your comfort zone.. so here it is.

Dies used Gina Marie stitched rectangle and a Gina Marie sympathy sentiment.  The sentiment was cut on a silver glitter card stock, the stitched die is  cut on 110lb card and popped with a foam rectangle behind.

Lace around the center is just some adhesive lace from a Joann grab bag last year. The lace down the side is from Walmart.

The silver rose is from the Michaels bargain racks. The front panel was also foam popped and mounted on a Recollections card base.

February Frankenstein Challenge – Arrrh me mateys…Pirates !!!!

Over on the message board our current Frankenstein Challenge is PIRATES !!! this is a non card challenge we do for fun. This was a cool one to do, I just wish I had more props for backdrops and setting the scene in the picture.. but oh well.

booty_call

I had an old bottle of wine that has been in the cupboard since my mother visited in 2012 lol.. I knew I’d find a reason to use it eventually.
I hunted high and low for an image and finally found what I was looking for on Deviant Art. I sent a note to the artist and explained what I wanted to do and requested permission to use his image.
This morning I got a reply .. “No probs, have fun” Thank you karafactory.
The image was printed on  110lb card stock and  colored with a mix of Chameleon, Zig Kurecolor and Ranger Distress pens. The background and edges were aged using Ranger distress ink pads and an old brush.
The “Ye Olde Booty Call” was written by hand for the old fashioned  look  with a Zig Calligraphy pen  from the Memory system set.
The map was a printout from freevectorvip.com

February Bugaboostamps/Executioner combo challenge

pocket_card3_wmd

Pocket Card Project

The challenges  were restructured and the bugaboostamps and executioner challenges were combined into Bugaboostamps/Executioner Combo Challenge

The rules are simple….use any bugaboo image and no single fold standard cards allowed.. lol.

I’ve seen a few of these pocket cards lately on the Kit & Clowder facebook group so I hunted down some sleeves and had a go.  This one will be winging it’s way to my grandaughter in Australia.

These are Avery Trading Card pouches which I picked up at Walmart for  less that $4 a pack of ten.  The images were colored with a mix of  Zig Memory System and Ranger Distress pens.   I cut my cards to 2.5x 3.5  so they were easier for the lil lady to get out of the sleeves… there is about 1/4 inch give on these.

It’s a fun project and a great way to mail cards overseas instead of standard letters, (you tuck a note or letter behind the center image)…. these can easily be put in an album  and collected over the years… awesome gift for grandparents  who don’t live close by  and they fold up to easily fit in a small padded jiffy envelope, so cheap to  mail 🙂

I definitely want to try more of these  🙂

KennyK February Challenge card

This is my  latest KennyK challenge card for our monthly message board challenge.

Featuring  images “Super-genius”  and “Sexy Teacher”.  Images were colored with a mix of Chameleon, Zig Memory system and Zig Kurecolor pens.

Mounted on a single fold 5.5×8.5 card base
Background was  done with Paint Shop Pro Textures
Chalkboard is Adhesive Chalkboard Vinyl from Ziggyboard, written and cut on the Cricut Explore with a White Gelly Roll Pen

This was a fun one to do.. 🙂

Updated Sketch Challenge News

MB_Banner

February 1st the Bi Weekly Sketch challenge will become the “Monthly Sketch Challenge”.

We had a bit of a restructure of the challenges on the message board and it was decided that the Bi-weekly would become monthly like all of the other challenges. It will continue in a similar format as before, with 4 sketches and a set of Ad colors/photo inspiration and 1 or 2 extra credit ideas.

Each month our volunteer host will provide sketches for everyone to work from. These sketches are guidelines only, so you can flex them to suit your needs and style. As always the idea is to have fun, try something new and enjoy the company of fellow members. We’d love to have you join us on this, or one of the 5 other monthly challenges on the message board.

To end out the Bi-weekly our Host NanaDonna has provided the following challenge
