Fort Worth Stockyards, TX – Art Abandonment Project

Well int that some $%#$%#$

I have lived in Texas just down the road from the Fort Worth Stockyards for 10 years now..and I have STILL never visited. It’s one of those places I always plan to visit, but just haven’t got round to…. but that will change.  The little guy is old enough to enjoy it now and  we have friends out that way…. and now I have the perfect excuse for a family outing to the Stockyards.  I just made a super simple picture frame,  which I hope one of the tourists decides they would love to put one of their photos from a visit in. It’s a  quick and easy project you can do with the kids and relatively cheap .. but still a cool find  for someone.

If you haven’t heard of the FW Stockyards.. check it out.  They have a twice daily cattle drive which apparently is a lot of fun… and of course some great photo ops for my lil CowPokey 🙂 Those are old pictures.. time for some new ones  🙂

Be sure to check out the Art Abandonment Facebook Group and see all the fun things that are being abandoned ALL over the world. It’s a fabulous group and it’s for all types and levels of crafters and artist. A lot of us do this with our kids and grand kids, come on over and join in the fun. If you are lucky enough to find a piece, be sure to let the gifter know you found their artwork. Most pieces will have contact details for the group, or a private email you can use 🙂

Description
Art Abandonment is a group designed to encourage random acts of art, left in various locations around the globe. The idea is that folks can make something and leave it for a lucky unsuspecting person to find. Artists can then post locations and photos of abandoned goodies…and finders can let everyone know that they are the lucky finder! O’ sweet abandon!”

  • What a perfect place to drop that great frame. Glad you and lil man are having fun doing these projects

    • I think this Art abandonment is a great idea

… not only is it a fab project to do as a family, you get fun crafting time, exercise traipsing around like secret squirrel hiding them.. you teach your kids the art of giving and put a smile on someone’s face.

The lil guy was super excited to go on a “mission” tonight to try and drop one of the plaster pieces, but there were too many people around for us to drop anything secretly… so we shall try a new mission tomorrow lol.
