12×12 Framed Scrapbook page

I love messing around with  12×12 …. but I am not a scrapbooker.  I prefer to frame them and use them as art instead, so…. here’s another fun framed art.. very simple but cute.
The image was print and cut on the Cricut Explore, colored with Chameleon Pens and then attached with Zig 2 Way glue to a 12×12 sheet of paper I acquired from a fellow crafter who was de-stashing.

There is plenty of room  for a poem, or a Sentiment if so inclined …

This image is Girls Happy Trio by Bugaboo stamps  who is  the sponsor for our Monthly Bugaboo Crafty Challenge.  Whether you are a card maker, or dabble in  other craft forms.. these images are so much fun to color and use…so grab your Bugaboo’s and come on over and show us your style.

Quickie card – I heart you

I have some new CraftsUPrint cutfiles, a tonne of new stamps and dies and … oh dear.. it’s been a busy month… for shopping haha.  I have a huge basket of goodies to  play with … and not enough time to play with them all.. but I am sure gonna try..and my son seems to have been bit with the crafty bug bad this month..so I shall be in good company.

So going to start off our mega marathon of craftiness with a quickie card featuring a super quick and cute cut file and a Satuarate Canary stamp I picked up in my first.. yes I said first batch of stamps I grabbed from LDRS Creative this past week (see previous post).  I loved the ones I got so much…I went back for more.   At $1 a pop on clearance, there is no way I wasn’t taking good advantage of this sale …. the stamps are fabulous. I found some long searched for scenic stamps which I can’t wait to play with.  This was my first time shopping with LDRS and I have to say I am impressed.

Ok so here she is.. this is Alice, supplies list is super simple and listed below.

Card base is 110lb Georgia Pacific card and was cut on the Cricut Explore using a CraftsUPrint cut file by Apetroae Stefan  called OVER THE EDGE HEART BORDER CARD

Insert is Black Recollections Value pack 65lb card, contrasts great through the cut outs
Black layer is also Black 65lb Recollections card
Image was stamped on Canson Mix Media using black Stazon Ink and colored with Chameleon Pens

… both layers were given a shabby cut, I have an old cutter that  does this to the paper/card if you only cut one layer and I love it, because I suck at paper tearing/ripping  but like the shabby edge look for some projects…so this is my compromise.

I used Zig Photo Tape runner adhesive to attach my layers.

LDRS Happy Mail – $1 Clearance Rubber Stamp deals

Now lets me just say.. not ALL of these LDRS Creative stamps were $1 clearance stamps before anyone goes to look for one and finds it is full price.  I did pick up a few full prices ones using the 25% Kit & Clowder Group discount which was running last weekend… but most all of these were $1 clearance stamps.  There are some still left.. so if you love a great deal.. you should definitely check out what they still have before it’s all gone. I originally ordered two of the London stamps with the intention of gifting one of them to someone, but alas they were out of stock so only sent one and a refund was issued..sorry .. I’m keeping that one lol.

I’m one of those who really likes to see stamps physically before buying, but these were such a great deal..it was worth a shot.  I loved these so much when they arrived..I ordered 11 more lol. They are mostly unmounted, but  the two Dove Art Studio stamps are mounted and what I thought was really cool… the mount has the image on it too so you can see it through the Acrylic blocks  🙂

The unmounted ones I just popped some Zig 2 way glue on.

Faery Ink WIP project for a budding hairdresser

I’ve been playing around a lot lately (.. as you may have noticed lol), with various new pens, pencils and paints etc and lots of different artists.  This is just a WIP, there is absolutely no. …no ..NO ..way I could managed a  new project for every spotlight, but I can share my WIP’s, colorings and  showcase the images I have, or want to have in my collection.

Make sure you swing by the  main intro post  and  this of course is Faery Ink…. my Day 1 spotlight guest 🙂

This is one I started playing with last week “Bella Spring Magic“,  obviously things have  been a bit crazy hectic round here..<<INSERT STAGE LAUGH and major understatement HERE.  but I wanted to try out my new Zig Kurelcolor and Chameleon pens sets.  I just recently got the Chameleon Skintone set from their new extended palette and the Kurecolor Hair and muted tones pack… loving  both of these pen sets.

Throw in a little Tim Holtz Ranger Distress, Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust and a wizz over with some white & clear Wink of Stella… and we have a twinkle twinkle fit for a little girl I know in Canada who just became a big sister last month

…. and just happens to be a blonde.  I shall post the finished card later when it is done… 🙂
Funny Story:  Aforementioned young lady also has, or should I say HAD lovely long hair too…. which trust me her mom waited FOREVER for it to grow. The morning of her maternity photo shoot a few months back…. her daughter went in the bathroom and hacked chunks of it out with scissors.

Her reasoning, she “wanted to look pretty for the photoshoot” LOL

Fast fwd a few hours later; so they get home and my friend goes to do something in the kitchen…. next things she knows, her daughter has once again decided to go at her hair. Now this is a kid who has had access to scissors for play and craft for well over a year with no incidents at all…. well not with scissors anyway…. lol…. we shall leave it at that haha.

Let’s just say I consider myself highly fortunate, my son and her daughter were born at the same time…. we were on a pregnant chicks board and that is how we met… .and I have not had to deal with half the things her daughter has got up to.  She’s a wee monkey at times lol.

Anywho, back to the hair, we have come to the conclusion that after having her first “real” haircut a few weeks earlier… she was probably role playing at being a hair dresser.

Its shall grow back…. I’m just waiting to find out what her next escapade will be  LOL.

Thank you Faery Ink for this fabulous image, I think I have the perfect CraftsUprint card base cut file for this one… 🙂

Spotlight Series Day 1: Amanda Byron – Faery Ink

Who are you ?  Amanda S. Byron, Faery Ink

Store: FaeryInk.com
Facebook Group: Faery Ink Group

Where are you ?  Ashland, Ohio, USA

When did you first start drawing/designing seriously?
I’ve drawn since I was very little. I sold drawings of Jessica Rabbit in 4th grade and ‘bubble letter’ names with flowers and such in middle school lol. I started selling web graphics and drawing tutorials in 2003, digital stamps in 2013. I’ll let you know if I start taking anything seriously haha 😉

What was the first product you ever had for sale?
As far as digital stamps, I made a bunch of stuff to put up before I opened shop. I like to prepare ahead usually.

What is your favorite piece in the whole store?

That would be like choosing between my kids lol. Instead I’ll pick one I really like but have never seen used:

Who is your inspiration/muse?
My kids, my little nieces, nature, mythology, Art Nouveau, Mucha, Waterhouse, books like the Discworld series, Alice in Wonderland, Chronicles of Narnia, Grimms’ Faerytales, Tim Burton, 80s cartoons like Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake and He-Man (lol), sci-fi/fantasy genre books and movies, World of Warcraft. I draw inspiration from everything =)

How many people work with/for you?
I have a great design team but I don’t have anyone working ‘for’ me =)

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Sweets, hip hop and gothic/steampunk flavored video games lol

What was your favorite subject in school…?
English, Social Studies and Art. I love learning so I can’t pick just one =P

If you were getting a tattoo… what would it be?
I have two in mind, one a heart with wings for my mom, the other an art nouveau style celestial goddess.

If you were reincarnated…who would you have been in a former life?
One of my first internet aliases was “Cleopatrawasuglybutpowerful” so I’ll go with Cleopatra lol.
I think Shirley MacLaine claims to have been her in a past life, so I’m probably wrong haha.

What is your most popular item in the store/shop?
Well, this one has been the most downloaded:

But she was free, so if I disregard free or discounted images it would be a tie between these two:

What’s your favorite craftroom/business supply or tool that you couldn’t live without?
My Wacom tablet. I mean I have had to live without it before, but I hated it!

What’s your favorite hobby when you want to relax
Coloring, reading, walking.

What should be written on your gravestone when you die?
Finally, she walks on the shores of Tír na nÓg.
(Though I don’t actually want to be buried lol)

How long does the average design/art work take from concept to final product?
It definitely varies, but I would say on average – 5 or 6 hours to concept sketch, rough draft, final, ‘inking’, and coloring with Copics.

What do you love most about all the people you meet through your work?
I meet a lot of crafters and have found that they are some of the most kind-hearted, generous folks I’ve ever known. Absolutely lovely people.
