Bible Bookmarks for Kids

I have a retiring bundle from Bugaboostamps to share with you all today. As you know the lil guy and I do Abanandoned Art and bookmarks are one of the things we like to abandon, so this bundle was perfect for that. I went in search of some Bible verse to correspond with each image and found these at Ministry to Children

I added the text to each Image and a border then printed them on Canson Mix Media Paper. I gave them a very subtle wash of color using my Gansia Tambi watercolor paints  and then mounted them on Kraft card and laminated them.  This is my Project for the  April Crafty Awesomeness Challenge, I hope you will go visit and check out the other DT projects using similar bundles and hopefully we shall see your projects too.

You can find the AKV God Set Bundle  over at the new Bugaboostamps.com Store.

Cricut Window Cling Vinyl Decals

I haven’t played with window cling in YEARS.. but saw that Cricut had some so figured I would have a play with it.  I grabbed a black and what I thought was the  frosted.. but actually turned out to be a white one… oh well.. still cool to play with, I’ll pick up the frosted another time.  I had a quick play with some Bugaboo images to test it out.

Vinyl is not really my thing so I wasn’t too sure of the settings. I did a double pass on  the dot between vinyl and  Iron on on my Explore…. and it  worked pretty good.  It didn’t cut the backing paper and was pretty easy to weed with an exacto.  Some of the  more detailed portions can be tricky, but I just used a rounded point to hold the piece down as I peeled away the excess.  I may rack it up a notch to Iron-on and see if that helps.. but all in all I love how these came out for first attempts.
I just put these on some spare photo frame glass I had kicking around because it is late and hubby would probably not be amused to wake up and find his car redecorated haha.  I didn’t clean the glass… since it was just test pieces..and I lost his eyes, so he has random spare parts for eyes lol.  I also spotted a stray piece tucked under  the baseball kids shoe after I took the pics, that is easy to remove with a sharp point.

The Stella and Gus “onepersontoannoy” is approx 6×4 inches and the “akv baseball batter” is approx 4×2 inches.  The Bugaboostamps store is transitioning..so no links for these until it’s finished I am afraid.

If you try this idea, be sure to read the TOU ( terms of Use ) for the artist who’s images you use… to make sure that this type of project is allowed.

You can buy the Window cling in a bunch of colors from  Cricut.com and it’s also available in a frosted glass effect.

My local Micheals.com carry a few colors of the window cling, usually black, white and frosted.. and online they have red too.

This was not what I actually intended when I bought this cling.. but it’s cool to now I have this option too.

UnityStamps Laminated Bookmark “First love, First Hero”

Another quickie Bookmark featuring the Unity Stamp co stamp, “First love, first hero”.  Text was from an old paperback book hubby was throwing out… waste not want not lol. I stamped it up and colored it in distress marker, then inked the edges using distress ink pads. I mounted it on a piece of card, also colored in distress inks and then laminated it and punched a hole in it for a ribbon.   This is joining the growing Abandoned Art project bucket for our upcoming “mission”.

Guest Designer – Lil’ Man D ( 4yrs old ) laminated bookmarks

We had to go get new tires the other day and my lil guy.. much as he loves the dealership and checking out all of the cars and trucks..specially the trucks ( he is just like his daddy when it comes to trucks lol ) .. he gets bored after a while.  So this time I decided to take along my portable easel box I showed you in a previous post earlier this week and watercolors  in case they came in handy… plus it was a great way to test it out and see how well it worked out.

They have a seating area with comfy chairs, but also a large eating area with vending machines and coffee etc and part of that is a long bar area with bar stools…and lots of natural light from the big windows.  So we sat down  with some snacks and drinks and I started to color.. lol.. 2 seconds later as predicted “I want to color please mommy”

So here we go, these are 4 of the bookmarks he painted while we were waiting for our new tires.  I had already stamped everything out  on precut  strips of Canson Mix Media Paper and they were in the easel box ready to go with the H2o pen.  The easel box and the Gansai Tambi box are about the same size so easy to grab and go even without a bag.
I love this first Giraffe because he told me he was painting a rainbow on it too ..  I love his imagination, but I am sure glad he explains what some of it is sometimes haha.  Some of these will go to friends and relatives and others will go in the Abandoned Art box.  The Giraffe is a stamp we picked up at Michaels last month.  The father and daughter image is a Unity Stamp co stamp  that I stamped up for me to color, but he hijacked it haha

The finished pieces were mounted on some plain Recollections 65lb card stock and then laminated and a hole punched for them.  A little bit of ribbon and some beads and they will be all ready to go 🙂

This portable easel with storage is great .. he loved it so much he asked for one of his own so he could bring his pens along next time too.  These boxes are small enough and light enough for a kid to easily carry around and if required .. you could easy pop on a carry handle or strap. Once his is finished,  he will be able to decorate it as he wishes. He loves to paint wooden blanks and boxes,  so I know whatever it is…. it will be UNIQUE  haha

Vintage portrait style watercolored magnet

Well.. what a mix of goodies ended up in this project… I think everything but the kitchen sink lol

This is a new magnet framed with the Gina Marie Designs combo die piece you saw in a post earlier today…  looks a bit different now though LOL.  It had a few layers of Tim Holtz distress ink, followed by two colors of DecoArt Metallic Lustre, a touch more distress ink…. then 3 layers of clear embossing powder.

The image is “Lavish” by Rick St Dennis, which is one of 3 new ones in this style that I picked up last night.  She is printed on Canson Mix Media 9×12icon and colored with Gansai Tambi Watercolors using an H2o Brush.  I mounted the image to a piece of  COHAS magnet using a commercial grade double sided adhesive tape and then attached the frame with Zig 2 Way Glue.

This one will be joined by the other two images who will be turned into magnets too and will be joining my Abandoned Art bucket and abandoned in the coming months.  If you want to lean more about abandoned Art there are links to several Facebook groups on the side of this blog.  It’s all about sharing the happy!

March Artists Challenge

Sorry guys and gals.. running a little late this month….

But lets get this party started… see if we can convince a few more of you to  put pen to paper..or mouse to pad..or finger to blood.. however you do your thing….  heh.. no judgement here..art is art right haha  Once you have seen a guy who caters his diet to produce poop of certain shades so he can paint with it.. and then people actually buy it… nothing and I mean NOTHING surprised me when it comes to  creative minds lol.

I forget the  name of the show, but it was some crazy show back in the UK late at night with.. two french guys and a couple of stick giraffe’s.. yeah don’t ask.. Pee Pee and po po I think they called them lol.. the giraffes that is. and then of course the chick with the biggest pair of boobs I have EVER seen… yeah  that was one crazy show… I am sure someone will know what I am talking about… it was like they traveled the world looking for the weirdest people and habits and lifestyles they could find..and trust,e .. they found A LOT of  them lol.

Anyone remember the show I am referring to?

anywho..  back on track.. thank you to everyone who  joined in last month… love seeing what new stuff you all come up with…. so.. what have I got for you this month?

“Up close and personal”

Inspiration for those that need it:

I’d love to see some nice tight close crop images….something for everyone to practice skin, hair, texture type techniques on, head shots or closer.  Whether your head is an animal, human, robot, alien or flora… or anything else you can come up with.

If you really want to be up close and personal..  how about a self portrait… show us how YOU see YOU… even if it’s not “realistic”

Who doesn’t love a baby elephant?

Here is card No.1 of 2 for the newest Crafty Awesomeness Challenge which is sponsored by.. Sasayaki Glitter this month. The team got to choose two images.. so being a team of 4 .. we let two of the girls pick an image this month and the other two will choose next time. We’ve been friends so long now, that we know each other well enough to know what images we can all work with.. and which ones we can  choose to give the others a  nudge outside the box..without going too  far… * cough haha that would be me LOL

So here she is… I say she, simply because I gave her pink toe nails and a pink bow.  I have plans to make a  few more of these in blue and gender neutral colors too, it’s just such a cute image and perfect for baby showers, 1st birthdays, gender reveals, announcements etc.

This is Baby Elly’s Birthday by Sasayaki Glitter

Abandoned Art Project – Readers Series

I had a fun idea for a new Bookmark Series to combine my CUP ( CraftsUPrint)  digital stamps by Gordon Fraser, with my Abandoned Art Projects.. doing something fun, and hopefully Inspiring people to read some of the classic literature that may not have crossed their path.
I was trying to decide on how to make my bookmarks when it hit me.. I could  pick classic tales  inspired by the images and add a short Synopsis to the back of each bookmark .. maybe inspire someone to hit the local library, or bookstore and check it out.

Now i am no literary  genius, so some of my book choices may be a bit obscure, based on books I have personally read.  Others will be pulled from the depths of Google based on search queries like “Pirate story book”  “traveler tales books” etc, ..and once I find a title I like.. I am going to see if I can pull up some fun info to go with it and  of course ..a Synopsis.  Wikipedia is such a fab place to get info on authors, artists, entertainers and  details on so many subjects… so Thank you Wikipedia for helping me further  the  cause of educating people on some great literature.

So here is the first bookmark in the series… Inspired by Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

LDRS Happy Mail – $1 Clearance Rubber Stamp deals

Now lets me just say.. not ALL of these LDRS Creative stamps were $1 clearance stamps before anyone goes to look for one and finds it is full price.  I did pick up a few full prices ones using the 25% Kit & Clowder Group discount which was running last weekend… but most all of these were $1 clearance stamps.  There are some still left.. so if you love a great deal.. you should definitely check out what they still have before it’s all gone. I originally ordered two of the London stamps with the intention of gifting one of them to someone, but alas they were out of stock so only sent one and a refund was issued..sorry .. I’m keeping that one lol.

I’m one of those who really likes to see stamps physically before buying, but these were such a great deal..it was worth a shot.  I loved these so much when they arrived..I ordered 11 more lol. They are mostly unmounted, but  the two Dove Art Studio stamps are mounted and what I thought was really cool… the mount has the image on it too so you can see it through the Acrylic blocks  🙂

The unmounted ones I just popped some Zig 2 way glue on.
