Bloobel Stamps February Progressive Challenge Project

I had some ideas for this one that were  not too “PC” so I  played it safe and added a simple stamped sentiment by Unity stamps.  What I really wanted to do was make a joke about the President pardoning turkeys….or  some crack about  accidentally mixing up the caterer and entertainment orders for a bachelor party and the caterer providing a “Bird with big breasts”   I will leave that with you.. and your imagination can fill in the blanks lol.  I’m just keeping in Simple … for this one  LOL

Here she is, this is  Bake Me A Cake  with Quirky Christmas Robin and the sentiment is from the Unity Stamp Co.  “A Joyous Season” stamp kit. The image is printed on Canson Mix Media and colored with Zig Kurecolor pens and a touch of Ranger Distress Pen & Crayola Color Escapes Pencils.

The image was  cut with a Lil’Inkers Stitched die from the rectangular dual stitch set on my Sizzix Big Shot and mounted on a Recollections card from Michaels using a Zig Photo Tape runner

Artist Palette Wall Art “I must Protest”

Bloobel stamps  have a new Progressive Challenge image for January, “I must Protest” .  I have been playing with non-card projects this year and this was perfect for some art fun.

I imported the image into Cricut Design Space and did a print and cut, colored it with Chameleon Pens and then  print and cut a few extra placards to complete the theme.

Someone recently called me a colorist, and I do NOT consider myself a colorist.. sorry  it just sounds so pretentious to call a scribbler like me a colorist LOL.. I love my crafting.. but I have no  illusions of grandeur about my skill, or lack of lol. I am too much of a tangent head and experimental crafter to ever claim  to be a “colorist”

..so it just fit  my sense of humor.

I grabbed a wooden paint palette blank  and squirted on some paint, left it to dry  with a cutout  to  maintain shape for my image in the  paint, this gave it a more 3D effect as it wraps around the  image instead of just being flat.

I stuck everything down with a thin coat of Mod Podge and then gave it a top coat using a sponge for a satin effect.

Love the Image Lisa… thanks for letting me join in  🙂

for anyone struggling to read this

“I am not a colorist”

“I love all colors equally”

“Well except Puce
That sounds to much like PUKE !”

Laugh till you pee!

I absolutely loved this image, so when we got the opportunity to work on Bloobel Stamps for the Crafty Awesomeness Challenge this month… it was no brainer. For someone like me who has a “quirky” strange sense of humor, this image has so many possibilities to create unique and fun sentiments  for cards or other projects.

I’m not a huge fan of overly fussy cards, for myself …. it’s just not something that comes naturally to me.  I love seeing the work other people do, but it’s not something that I can really translate over well in my own work as a  general rule.  I  tend to  get my inspirations from the images I use and let them dictate the direction I go in. And since my sentiments are usually inspired by the images….I like to keep the projects pretty CAS so the image and humor are the main focus.

I’m also not a die hard card maker, so I love to play around making magnets and framed art and  notebook covers etc… things that tend to have a  longer shelf life and won’t get shoved in a drawer at best….and the trash at worst  LOL.

I also recently got involved in something called Abandoned Art which is a lot of fun and non card projects are great for that too.  I would image this one, or at least a copy of this one will find itself into my AA bucket to  be enjoyed by some random person at some stage this year.  I confess I really like how this one  came out and I am not sure I want to give away my original  lol.  I think she will end up hanging in my new craft room when  we move later this year.bloobel_giggles_framed_wmd

She was printed on 110lb Georgia Pacific, I am a bit of a rebel, I don’t  buy  marker specialty paper.  This and the Neenah 110lb suits my style and my needs for most  coloring projects… when I want specialty paper, it’s more likely to be canvas paper, inkjet watercolor paper, printable polysilk, or velvet paper….  occasionally shrinky dink..or a bed sheet… yes I did say bed sheet and yes I have printed on it LOL.

She’s colored with a mix of  Chameleon pens, Zig Kurecolor and The Tim Holtz Ranger distress pens  and the sentiment is straight from my own  warped mind and was added to the digi before printing.

If I keep her she will be matted and mounted in a simple black frame… if I abandon her for someone else to find… she will most likely be framed… or  made into a notebook cover.  I guess we shall find out   🙂

She could quite easily  be a card front… but I’m just not feeling it for this project.   She deserves to be seen and enjoyed for more than 5 minutes:)

FOOT NOTE :

and she did indeed.. become a notepad  LOL…

I scanned the original and reprinted her on canvas paper, laminated it and then added in pages with random little fun stamps on some of the corners… the back page was elongated to include the inspirational ” Live Love Laugh Stamp ”  and she is indeed going in my Abandoned Art Bucket… along with the other copy I printed on Canvas… who will probably become a magnet  🙂

End of Series Giveaways – Updates

Well… we are, over half way through the Spotlight Series.. so time to start pulling together all of the giveaway prizes on offer.  I will start listing them all here …. this list may change over the next two weeks…so expect edits on this post 🙂  This is just a fun giveaway and an opportunity for  the spotlight guests  and of course myself to thank you, the visitors, crafters, fans and group members for your interest and support of this Spotlight Series.spotlight_giveaway-sneaky

Each one will have its own giveaway page which will be opened for comments on the 1st  of July.

Once it is open for comments… you will need to enter each one you are interested in, individually.   All you have to do is comment on the giveaway post “I commented” AND have commented on the sponsors spotlight post.  So if you haven’t been leaving comments on the daily guest spotlights .. now is the time to play catch up LOL.  Not all spotlight guests are able to offer prizes;  so their spotlight may be sponsored by an external sponsor, but you will still need to comment on the spotlight to enter.

If it’s a non spotlight sponsor,  the giveaway post will have details on what you need to do to enter those.

Winners will be picked randomly and will be posted  here on the blog on/around the 15th of July.

Some are open to the US only, some are worldwide and will be duly noted on each giveaway.. please verify you are eligible to enter.

Where are you ?

France

When did you first start drawing/designing seriously?

I worked as a “serious” artist from 2010 – 2013, I’d never do that again. I prefer art to be fun 😉

What  job did you have BEFORE you started drawing/designing for a living?

I was a software developer before I moved to France, and the last time I worked for a salary was on technical support for World of Warcraft, a video game.

If you could hang out with ANYONE in the world ….  who would it be?….and what is the one question you would want to ask them?

Stephen Hawking. I’d probably ask him a stupid question and spend my life mortified that I had embarrased myself.

What’s your favorite color?

Green.

What is your favorite piece in the whole store?

muchogrande

Thank you for the Flowers

Who is your inspiration/muse?

Cartoons like Sponge Bob, Oggy and the cockroaches, Video Games.

Name your favorite cartoon?

At the moment I’m watching Adventure Time, that is pretty cool. I like everything by Miyasaki.

Favorite quote?

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

What was your favorite subject in school…?

Maths. Funnily enough I didn’t like art at school, I found it restrictive and boring drawing pieces of wood and fruit.

If you were reincarnated…who would you have been in a former life?

A spider.

What is your most popular item in the store/shop?

I don’t know how long the bunny will be popular now that spring is over, but I think a lot of people who visit my store will like coffee whatever the weather.

Boingy Rabbit

muchogrande (1)

Need Coffee

Who was your first celebrity crush…and have you drawn them?

Danny Kaye. I never drew him, but I think his goofiness has inspired some of my characters.

If you weren’t doing what you are doing now…. what job would you have?

Software Developer. Although I’m a bit out of date these days. I do video game design on the side to keep my hand in.

What’s your favorite craftroom/business supply or tool that you couldn’t live without?

My mechanical pencil, if I don’t have at least 3 in the house at one time, I start to get nervous. I seem to have bought about 20 in the past year. I think my cats eat them.

If your parents had named you something else… what would you have picked?

Pollyanna. My mum wanted to name me that after the novel.

What’s the one song guaranteed to have you shaking your booty anytime, anyplace ..anywhere?

Bob Sinclar – Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now) – oh my. It has the “everybody dance now” sample from the 90s, which makes me forget I’m over 40. I’m going to kill myself one of these days or break something.

Who scared you most as a kid when you were being naughty.. your parents or the boogey man?

I was nearly never naughty, but when I was it was the “disappointed” face of my mother that scared me the most.

Show me the drawing you think most closely resembles you physically or personality-wise

This is me multitasking, I wear lots of hats 🙂

What do you love most about all the people you meet through your work?

Everyone that I have met so far have been so nice. I think the crafting community really look out for artists and are very supportive. I really like that, rather than creating a “finished” product that people consume, digis are more like collaborating with hundreds of very individual artists all over the world, and I love to see how everyone interprets one image in their own way.

If you were a classic car…. what would you be?

I don’t know if I’d be it, but I always wanted to own a Chevy Camaro 69 SS.

When you are working, what is the view from your window like?

I’m lucky to have a big garden with trees and birds that play in them. Our garden is a bit unkempt so it’s a bit like living in a forest sometimes.

Which decade do you think had the best music?

70s Disco.

What’s your favorite hobby when you want to relax?

Independant video games, board games, gardening, sci-fi films, audible books about space.

Which drawing/product are you the most proud of in your collection?

This one was quite difficult to get the balance right, and I was quite proud of myself for even attempting the pose 🙂
