Easy Chalkboard Vinyl humorous signs

I needed a break from cleaning up and had a play with some fun signs.. nothing major, just some fun signs with some fun images. I popped a square piece of Cohas Adhesive Chalkboard Vinyl onto an 8×8 wood canvas/blank and added some of the fun images I got from CraftsUPrint designer Gordon Fraser.  These were watercolored using Gansai Tambi paints  and H2o brushes on Canson Mix Media Paper.

It’s really easy to  swap images in and out…. if you don’t want to keep a permanent image on it, just use a 2 way temporary bond glue.  Great way to make motivational signs for yourself, or other family members.  I just  wrote on mine with blue and white Zig wet wipe Chalk Markers, which cleans right off with a wet rag. You could of course use a more permanent pen which they also  make, that comes off with window cleaner.  I deliberately didn’t prime my chalk pens, to keep it more  rustic and not so intense.

This vinyl comes in 12×12 sheets, or pre-cut labels in various shapes.  I like the 12×12 sheets  because I can cut this on my Cricut Explore if I want something a bit fancy and also write on it on my Cricut.. because let’s face it, my handwriting sucks haha…. or pop it in a 12×12 Scrapbook page frame if I want something bigger.  I have the labels too and they are awesome for  labeling jars etc with my lil man as gifts.. lots of fun shapes.

When I want a more permanent sign, I confess I usually  run it through my Cricut first to add the text..

January 2017 Artists Challenge

Ok…  let’s have some  fun with a new theme for our fab artists.  I was sat here thinking of a new theme and smelling Double Chocolate Chocolate muffins permeate the air. I get to work, while the boys get to make goodies… but dang it smells good lol.
Not that THAT has anything whatsoever with the theme I came up with..I just thought I would share.  I am actually prepping this post up early, since we all have so much going on over the Holidays… me included.

I hope they aren’t ALL for Santa Claus…..

Anywho… by the time this post goes live;  the holidays will be virtually over, the  presents will all be opened,  the tree will be looking a bit neked if it’s even still up.  Some of you will be nursing hangovers and memories of another fab New Year with friends and family.  The trees will be coming down soon, the lights packed away for another year and  2016 will be officially OVER.  So in honor of 2016, a fab year filled with some fantastic crafters and artists and designers.. and  a farewell to our blinky lights and glitter ornaments…

Here is our new theme inspired in part by the end of a year, the glam and the glitz of hollywood and a whole bunch of crazy ideas…. some of which I listed below for anyone needing inspiration.

“It’s a wrap”

Who could think It’s a wrap without thinking of Hollywood and  movie making..   leading ladies, hearththrobs, glamour and glitz.  The Awards season is upon us… if you needed any additional ideas, check out this list. Awards Season Calendar  Please someone  do the SAG awards lol… It’s just begging for some humorous old Hollywood Broad with saggy…. everythings.

How  about Egyptian mummies? nothing like an ancient dead person to inspire a few age jokes.

….or if you like bandages but aren’t too keen on dead people… there is always the medical  .. get well images for broken bones, bumped heads etc.

Want some more humor… how about  the old weight loss wraps, perfect for all of those New Year Resolutions.. that most of us are NEVER gonna keep.

Wrap inspired keywords:

baby, candy, gift, nails, hair, hollywood, movies, end, finished, awards .. let’s see what you come up with.

Digi Monthly Challenge – Starting in August

Starting in August we will be hosting a Monthly Digi Challenge on the Message Board.  The challenge is open to all styles and levels and the stamp of the month details will be revealed at the start of each month.  The challenges are just for fun and to try & learn new things.  If;  like me, you feel your coloring skills aren’t quite what they could or should be.. come on in and give it a try.

The best way to improve your skills is to practice and learn from other people.  Don’t have the budget for Copics ?.. don’t worry, we have a variety of  ideas you can try that won’t break the bank.

Prizes for the monthly challenge ……. to be eligible for prizes you must be a message board member, who has posted a pre-determined amount of posts… and Hi, Thanks, smilies and filler posts to bump post counts DO NOT COUNT.. they must be what I consider…proper posts. This will stop people just jumping in to challenges for the prizes and not actually being active members.

You can submit as many different projects as you like to increase your chances of being picked by the judge ….as long as they are all different projects using the Monthly Stamp.

If you live outside of the US your Prize will be one or more Digital Stamps .. if you live inside the US you may receive one or more digital, or one clear stamp …..depending on the prize on offer for that challenge. Occasionally other prizes may be offered, other than digital/clear stamps.

The judge’s decision is final and I assure you I have ZERO influence over the Prize Winner Selections .. since this will be probably the ONLY time I am eligible to enter and win prizes on the any of the challenges     A guest judge will pick their favorite creation for the month and award prizes accordingly.
