How many GMD dies can you fit on one card project?

.. at least 6 LOL

I exploded Easter with this fun card filled with Gina Marie Designs die cuts.  I have a bunch of new dies sitting on my desk ..along with a gazillion other things I haven’t even had a chance to pull out of their packaging and I  decided I was going to get stuck in  this week.  I had no idea till I started just how well the dies I had were all going to pull together.  If you are a regular  Gina Marie Designs  addict, you will most likely recognize most, if not all of these dies.. but for those of you who don’t, there is a list of supplies at the bottom of the post  ūüôā

Plenty of room for a sentiment if/ when needed too…  just a fun, die crazy card… if you added a banner cut sentiment… that would make at least 7 GMD’s .. or a sentiment die too like the Happy Easter ..or 8 if you  had the stitched sun from the stitched skies set.. which I don’t have YET !

Decoupage Wall Plaque “Baby Boy Blues”

I was playing around with ideas again.. you know how that goes LOL.

I picked up some of these cheap wood blanks at Walmart… I only went in for milk honest.

2 gallons of milk and $50 of craft supplies later…. haha ..oops…and I had some fun stuff to play with for me and the lil man.

Now cute isn’t really my thing, but I still like to have a play around with ideas and ¬†try new things…and sometimes I get a does of the “cuties”. ¬†I think that is how you learn what you like and don’t like; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t…. but you will never know unless you try.

What I loved about this one was the soft Wedgewood style color Palette ….what I didn’t love…. sticking on what felt like a gazillion tiny flowers and ¬†pearl cabochons. ¬†But I like how ¬†the flower clusters turned out on it…it’s a very handy die, I just wish it did more than one at a time. ¬†I can see a few places I think I probably should have added a few stray flowers, but it’s so easy to ¬†go too far and OVERKILL strikes ¬†lol.

Anywho here she is, this is my ¬†New Release project for Cute As A Button “My Baby Boy” . The idea would work with a photo instead of a digi image too.

Supplies listed below.

Finally..I completed my set of Chameleon Pens ..WOO HOO

I managed to pick up the last 10 of my missing colors just before Christmas and so I have been pushing myself to practice using these pens…. the way they were intended to be used lol.

I confessed previously, that I really haven’t used the blending chambers as much as I probably should have in the year I have had them..so now, I am determined to do ¬†more with that side of their functionality.

The last two packs I needed were floral and warm tones;¬† so I picked out two of my new Power Poppy images ¬†that I haven’t colored yet, printed them on Canson Mixed Media paper and had a play. ¬†I am quite pleased with these…. they have a soft, almost vintage botanical catalog/book feel to them. I avoided the overly bright modern and strong look I usually favor & kept these two muted. ¬†These were colored with a ¬†mix of pens from the whole set, NOT just the two latest color packs.

I did pop in a shadow  outline effect using my H2o detailer brush and the printer ink from the image.

Be Beautiful – layered card with watercolor effect

This is my latest project and features ¬†an image by Cute As A Button “Wedding Day” and a bunch of ¬†things from my latest craft hauls. ¬†This is my December Inspirational Project ¬†and also ¬†my No. 3 Sketch with extra credits for the Message Board Sketch Challenge. ¬† Some of the ladies and I are old friends from the Cricut Message Board days and this is a continuation of an old challenge on there. It’s a just for fun ¬†monthly sketch challenge and all are welcome to come hang out and play.

I wanted to try something¬†I’d been playing with the other week, the watercoloring with printer ink.. but expanded on the idea by including some of the new Zig Kuretake Manga ink I just got. ¬†I picked ¬†this particular ink for the fact it was water based, so I knew it would dilute and work with this technique. ¬†It is a fast drying ink that becomes waterproof once dry and ¬†smudge free with Alcohol markers. ¬†Exactly what I need! ¬†I also picked up a Fine H2o brush in this packet… ¬†I have tried cheap versions of these which work.. ok.. but this one is definitely a much higher quality.
caab_b_beautiful_closeup_wmded
I gave the image a color wash with just water and the printer ink, then I slowly layered in a diluted ink to add in more depth and shadow. ¬† It has a very subtle color because I ¬†diluted it and then absorbed the excess as I worked, ¬†but straight out of the bottle.. this is black as black can be. If you let it soak in instead of absorbing ¬†it … the colors are also more pronounced.

The reason I picked up this ink is because ¬†Artists all have their own style of drawing, some use thinner lines than others and that effects the amount of ink you have to pull from the printed image. ¬†I have a gorgeous set of ¬†Gansai Tambi watercolor paints I could have used..BUT ¬†I wanted to experiment… PLUS these inks are waterproof once dried AND I can use the ink with various writing/drawing tools.

k let’s face it.. I just wanted to play with something new lol. ¬†Wait till you get to see the other bottle of ink I picked up….

I added in some really subtle color on the image using my Chameleon Pens
NU00, BL2, BG1 & GR1.

This image was printed on  a Canson Mixed Media sheet  through the Epson Eco Tank.

ok.. now onto ¬†the card itself. ¬†I am not really ¬†a fussy card maker.. ¬†but I do like to play around with ideas and try new things out, so now and then I’ll get a bit “fluffy”.

I had some fab new dies from Gina Marie designs I wanted to try out and so I mixed it up with some of those, some GM’s from a previous order, a die from my latest Blitsy order and some ¬†Cheapie imports from Ebay. ¬†And then I ¬†had a play with my Martha Stewart punches…. ¬†for good measure.

Starting at the back and working forward..

Blue Recollections Card Stock  with  Martha Steward border punch set. If you want a continuous border, these punches all come with cutting instructions and sizes so you can get perfect  borders.  For this project I  wanted to play with an off cut pattern, just to add a little interest to the background.

On top of that are 3 cuts from the Gina Marie Flower Branch Die.. 2 were inked with a blue pad..one darker than the other for  some contrast and pearl cabochons were popped in the smaller centers for some subtle bling.

The butterfly and beautiful  cuts are from Gina Marie
The “Be” sentiment is from Blitsy
….and finally the small leafy sprigs came from Ebay.

I used ¬†a mix of glues and tapes… details and links for the products used can be found below for anyone interested.

New Gina Marie Dies haul

Well I couldn’t resist one more quick die haul before my little shopping spree for the year ended.. so I grabbed these. new_gmd_dec

I don’t have ¬†a lot of masculine dies so the GONE FISHING DIES set was a definite ¬†plus…. I have a friend with a husband who loves to fish and I am sure I can find some fun humorous sentiments to go with these. ¬†He is terribly accident prone and has pretty much been rebuilt¬† more times than the Bionic man… so he has a sense of humor that matches my own lol. ¬†Just as well really since he is such an easy EASY target haha. ¬†Any man who can break ¬†their pelvis while standing on a two foot wall fishing… just gotta learn to roll with the punchlines LOL.

He has been more trouble since he retired than ever…. who knows what he will get up to next. In this weeks saga…¬†he is getting surgery on the finger he decided to chop off at the tip last week. *rolleyes. Rest assured, ¬†all of the appropriate jokes have been distributed and his wife ¬†has declared herself unwilling to scratch his butt for him if he chops anything else off lol.

Aint love Grand !!! ¬†But we love him anyway… he’s like that 3 year old who gets into trouble and you give them the stern lecture, while trying ¬†not to giggle at their antics. He’s my favorite A$$hat and I would be lost without my partner in crime when it comes to bad humor.

The SNOWFLAKE BORDER DIE 5.5 LONG border was just too cute to pass by

.. I love my frame sets, so had to grab at least one of these¬†MINI HEART LACE SQUARE DIE SET¬†..and they kinda look ¬†like 4 leaf clovers in this design too.. so perfect for St Patrick’s Day and good luck cards.

The FLOWER BRANCH DIE just caught my eye and I had to grab it..and then somehow.. the ORNAMENT & SHADOW DIE SET just fell in my packet * grin.

Now I just have to find time to ¬†do some fun new projects with all this new stuff ¬†ūüôā

WOW…. a whole week without posting??? me??? what happened! lol

Apologies, I got so caught up with looking for a new place to live and juggling finances I totally got behind on my posts… BUT.. I am making up for it tonight/ this am..with 3 new projects.

First off.. ¬†here is a CAS card featuring a Power Poppy Image ¬†“Flowering Branches”¬†which I colored ¬†using my Chameleon Pens, very soft by my usual style lol…then Die cut out with a Gina Marie Designs X stitched Frame die. Mounted¬†with Zig Photo Tape¬†on a card base ¬†that was embossed with a Darice 5×7 Dots folder and then ¬†the over hanging portions of the image were layered on top from a second print out and colored.
