Who doesn’t love a baby elephant?

Here is card No.1 of 2 for the newest Crafty Awesomeness Challenge which is sponsored by.. Sasayaki Glitter this month. The team got to choose two images.. so being a team of 4 .. we let two of the girls pick an image this month and the other two will choose next time. We’ve been friends so long now, that we know each other well enough to know what images we can all work with.. and which ones we can  choose to give the others a  nudge outside the box..without going too  far… * cough haha that would be me LOL

So here she is… I say she, simply because I gave her pink toe nails and a pink bow.  I have plans to make a  few more of these in blue and gender neutral colors too, it’s just such a cute image and perfect for baby showers, 1st birthdays, gender reveals, announcements etc.

This is Baby Elly’s Birthday by Sasayaki Glitter

Vintage Cockerel Style Wooden Keepsake box.

Well this sure was an interesting departure from the card making for me. I had a lot of fun ..and let’s be honest, a lot of crude humor moments with this one.  Just be glad I didn’t do a Video Tutorial or Facebook Live with this one. Sometimes my humor is on the level of a 8 year old boy..   what can I say… some things are just always gonna be funny…. specially at 3 am LOL.

Anyways…. humor aside, I picked up these cheap wood boxes at Walmart on my milk excursion the other night.  I also picked up something I had seen a few times before and ALMOST picked up .. but never did.  I grabbed some Iron on Transfers from the fabric sewing section.  Now most of you will have probably seen these before so will know what I am talking about.. those of you who don’t… these are  sheets  with multiple designs on them. You cut out the one you want and iron it onto fabric and use it as your pattern/guide to embroider images.  They are cheap, and reusable… and come in a gazillion designs of all themes and sizes.

I picked up some cockerels/roosters, chicks and chickens…. chooks to you Aussies.  A set of vintage cars and a set of butterfly and flower designs.   Each sheet usually has about 10-15 or so designs depending on what you buy and these cost me 97 cents a sheet in Walmart.  Designs are limited in my Walmart, but the company has a tonne of designs to choose from.

I am not going to bore you with step by step explanations.. it’s pretty simple… iron on the pattern.. I drew the checkered background with a ruler … color with pencils.  I drafted out a color scheme first for visual reference.. stain, age, wax  or seal  & photograph.  Line if desired….DONE !!!

I plan to add some metal corners to this one, but I don’t have them yet.. I also have a second box which I am currently converting into a place to store my Zig pens..stay tuned for that one.

Supplies

Medium –  Wood blank
Design – Iron on transfer Aunt Martha’s – colonialpatterns.com

Pencils – I used my new Crayola Color Escapes premium pencils
Misc.  – Distress ink, ink pads  tim Holtz alcohol inks, distress pads and Craft Smart black Dye ink pad , candle wax, heating tool and old face clothe, Ruler, Iron

I definitely plan to do more of these…  The vintage car one looks  like it could be very cool for some manly gifts  and I shall be checking out more patterns.

OOh Christmas is coming….hurry hurry

printed

I know you all must be as crazy busy as I am right now with last minute gifts and cards, getting ready for the big day with family and friends.
I’ve been busy making cracker boxes for the little guys grandparent/great grandparent gifts, he stamped images for the candles and  stuck clear decal stickers on the bath salts jars.

I’ve been printing out coloring sheets for me to practice on over the coming months.  I printed a tonne of practice sheets… KennyK, Bugaboostamps and  a bunch of botanical images and various other images from other digi artists in my collection.   Really looking forward to getting some time to color and play with my pen sets and paints this winter.

jack_boardI’ve also been working on some Jack Skellington project for  hubby who is a huge Nightmare before Christmas fan…. of course this one was hijacked by the lil guy who also loves the movie.  I bought some  printables  and as soon as he saw them all I heard was …. “Mommy it’s Oogie Boogie and Jack ”  “Mommy print this, I stick that on…”  It’s another chalkboard vinyl project using the Ziggyboard sheets in a 12×12 scrapbookers frame.  It’s still in progress, but this is how it is looking so far.  The lil man had a blast putting stickers on this frame…

I actually had a couple of different “Jack” projects in mind for him to make for daddy…. but that is cool. Hubby will love the fact lil man helped make this one too.  I’ll share proper pics of those later when they are finished.

We still have coasters to stamp for all the grandpas and great grandpas and more frames to decorate… busy, busy times.

Hope everyone is keeping well..  may you all have a fantastic Christmas, or holiday season.

Reminder:  We have exclusive coupons available for CraftingAbility.com and ZiggyBoard.com which expire on the 31st.

…and if you haven’t noticed the banner on the right…  the new KennyK shop is up and running with digi and clear stamps and has a 30% off your first purchase available too.

Shopping spree…. yeah ..another one lol

I had a bit of a splurge at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree the other day ….well two Michaels actually LOL

There are a whole bunch within driving distance and two on the way to the In Laws…. so I hit those again.

OMG the deals at Michaels right now ….almost everything I got in the first store was on clearance or sale…. and the I had a 50% coupon for a regular price buy.  THEN the little girl at the register pulls out a different coupon and says, “I got another one for you….” yeah it helps to be nice to retail workers….when you are an a$$hole, you only get to use your own coupons LOL.  So she pulls out a 30% off EVERYTHING….sales, clearance the whole shebang…. and adds that on 🙂

Shame the girl at the second store wasn’t so sweet…. but heh….It was all clearance and sales stuff there too anyway.

Picked up a bunch of single sheet paper 7/$1 ….14 cents a pop…. I can handle that, specially with the extra 30% off lol.   And some of them were colored vellum too 🙂  There were a couple I wanted at the first store that were on clearance…. didn’t make sense to get them…but I picked them up at sales price in the second store.  Not all stores have the same clearance items.

I picked up a bunch of Wink of Luna pens….if you haven’t seen them already, check them out.. they are like Wink of Stella, but metallic.  Why the hell are they on clearance already??? not that I am complaining…. I would have grabbed more if I had the spare money this month.  I already spend a tonne of money already this month. I also got some wood frames to decorate, one of which you may have seen in the Grandma project.

The Turtle is just a prop, my son thought I needed a lil something extra in my picture lol      … but he is available at all good Walmarts.

The Recollections card stock was on offer 5 for $10 again…. so I grabbed a bunch of that.

Martha Stewart corner and border punch sets… CLEARANCE… oh hell yeah.  My little guy loves to punch paper and these are so much easier for him to use than the others, but at $25 a set…. I have to budget for them and wait for coupons etc.  $12.99 on clearance, thank you very kindly!!

Christmas clear cling stamps, 50% off….  and the $1.50 cheapie stamps bins now have the Christmas ones …. I always grab  the cheapie stamps for the lil guys collection 🙂

I picked up a new Ranger Archival ink pad…. the big ones.. 50% off, thank you coupons LOL

I snagged some metallic card, holographic foil, a few plastic cutting mats for playdoh, candles and some pens to try in the Cricut from the DollarTree.com

I got the reindeer stickers, cork mats, felt ornaments and the White Sakura Gelly Roll pens at Hobby Lobby… all Christmas stuff was 50% off and the pens had a 40% off coupon.

The hole punch is a 2 inch throat one from Walmart, I picked that up for doing the shaker card  window game cards,  when I didn’t want to cut holes on the Cricut for that.

My Joann.com order will be here on Saturday…. Hallelujah!!! I can’t wait to try out my new embossing powders.

Looks like we are pretty well set for some serious crafting over the winter 🙂
