Fairy Topper Notebook

I made this cute Fairy topper design  Fairy on Fancy Background No.3 into a notebook cover for my friends little girl.  It’s a full 8.5 x 11 comb bound scribble pad  and I will add her name to the scroll on the front.  Another gorgeous Lyn Simms design for the little fairy lovers  in our lives.

You can find this file in various cutting machine formats at CraftsUprint

Over the Edge Bugaboo Girl

I wanted to play around  with some new ideas for my Cricut Explore and Digital stamps so I knocked up this quickie little over the edge card.  The base idea which I  am sharing here has so many uses..  regular card, note card, gift card and money holder.

Because of the way I made it a short fold card you could easily add a sentiment/greeting down the inside edge.. like “Hey Girl”  or similar for a casual hi, hello, hey there… to a gal pal.  This image is Casual Girl, and I mirrored my image for this project.

This particular design was a test piece to see how it would  cut on my Cricut Explore and I love the way it came out… so stay tuned throughout the month for a whole bunch of fun new designs and  ideas using some of the Bugaboo stamps  I have in my collection.

This girl is cut on 110lb Index Card and colored with  Chameleon Pens.  I designed this particular one as a single layer and imported it into Cricut Design Space.. but  it’s also a great one to do my 3D layered Images on too.

Hoping to have a creative month with my little guy, get us back on track after a pretty dismal start to this month…

This is  just one small project idea for  this months  Bugaboo Crafty Challenge sponsored by Bugaboos Stamps… I hope you will come join us and share your own Bugaboo Stamps Projects.

Cricut Window Cling Vinyl Decals

I haven’t played with window cling in YEARS.. but saw that Cricut had some so figured I would have a play with it.  I grabbed a black and what I thought was the  frosted.. but actually turned out to be a white one… oh well.. still cool to play with, I’ll pick up the frosted another time.  I had a quick play with some Bugaboo images to test it out.

Vinyl is not really my thing so I wasn’t too sure of the settings. I did a double pass on  the dot between vinyl and  Iron on on my Explore…. and it  worked pretty good.  It didn’t cut the backing paper and was pretty easy to weed with an exacto.  Some of the  more detailed portions can be tricky, but I just used a rounded point to hold the piece down as I peeled away the excess.  I may rack it up a notch to Iron-on and see if that helps.. but all in all I love how these came out for first attempts.
I just put these on some spare photo frame glass I had kicking around because it is late and hubby would probably not be amused to wake up and find his car redecorated haha.  I didn’t clean the glass… since it was just test pieces..and I lost his eyes, so he has random spare parts for eyes lol.  I also spotted a stray piece tucked under  the baseball kids shoe after I took the pics, that is easy to remove with a sharp point.

The Stella and Gus “onepersontoannoy” is approx 6×4 inches and the “akv baseball batter” is approx 4×2 inches.  The Bugaboostamps store is transitioning..so no links for these until it’s finished I am afraid.

If you try this idea, be sure to read the TOU ( terms of Use ) for the artist who’s images you use… to make sure that this type of project is allowed.

You can buy the Window cling in a bunch of colors from  Cricut.com and it’s also available in a frosted glass effect.

My local Micheals.com carry a few colors of the window cling, usually black, white and frosted.. and online they have red too.

This was not what I actually intended when I bought this cling.. but it’s cool to now I have this option too.

Floral overlay border edge acetate card

This is one of the new  CraftsUPrint  cut files I picked up and made into an acetate panel card.  It’s another cut file by Tina Fitch called Swirl Sided Card and it is available in various cutting machine formats. I cut this on my Cricut Explore using Recollections Black card for the background and  110lb Index stock for the swirls.  I bet it would
look gorgeous with black velvet paper on White too.

I scored this at an offset so that I could add in an acetate window and bottom border, then added in some  small punched flowers with pearl centers.  Then I finished it off with a sentiment die from my recent Ebay Haul, again in 110lb white card stock.

cup_floraledge_wmd

What I love about these style of cut files is that they are very flexible and can be used in various ways, not just the way the original file comes.  I moved the score line and added a window to this one with a base strip.  But I also ran a quick test piece through my Cricut to show you  how you can switch it out from cut to write and achieve effects like this too.
cup_cut_file_ds
This is  a Zig Embossing writer pen, they don’t fit the original  pen holders for the Cricut… but they work fantastic in the Chomas Creations  Adapters I have. This is the Marker Adapter and so far it has fit all of my Zig pens  from my Memory System Collection and the embossing pens. That means it also fits the Zig Chalk Writer pens….which I love.  You can see some pictures from past projects below this post. Please Note…. the Adapters do not fit the Explore ONE as it has a different holder and housing from the Original Cricut Explore, the Air and ..possibly the Air 2.  These adapters are available for a variety of machines, so if you have something other than an Explore… check the  site and see if your machine is one of them.  There is however an Engraving tip for the Explore ONE.

zig_emboss_writer

I didn’t powder up this sheet so you can see some stray embossing powder…. That was deliberate.

A. it was  a test piece… and B. It gives me the perfect excuse to  show  people who are new to embossing powder  what to expect…and  how to avoid this.   If you are embossing projects, you need to coat your paper with a resist prior to stamping, or writing with embossing inks.  You can buy special little powder puffs, but I find Johnson’s baby powder works just as well.   Simply dust a thin coating over your paper before you emboss.  I use an old makeup brush, or an old face clothe… sometimes just my hand.

CraftingAbility/Ziggy Day 21 Mystery Box Prize

sooo…. The CraftingAbility  Ziggyboard mystery Box…. prize that is up for grabs on the Day 21 Amy Chomas End of Spotlight Series Giveaway… have you all checked to see the products the sponsor ImageAbility carries in these stores??
scrapbook_header1

For those of you that don’t already know… this is the place I get a lot of my goodies… like the Zig pens, Wink of Stella and the fun magnetic chalkboard, chalkboard vinyl and frosted vinyl. And the slate I used on my CAAB projects also came from here. Check out some of my the reviews and projects here  Reviews and Projects

And they were the sponsor for the Zig Kurecolor skintone pack giveaway that just ended.

Well .. I can tell you this mystery box will be fun for anyone with a cutting machine .. specially if you have one of Amy’s adapters. But even if you don’t have an adapter yet…or a cutting machine….. it’s still a fun box because I tried to pick out the most versatile products I could to cover lots of different crafty needs and uses.

It’s a little bit of a mix… so you get to try out a bunch of stuff instead of just one thing. And most all of it is items I have myself and really like..so I figured someone out there might want to try them too.

Even I don’t know EXACTLY what will be in it… but I sent in my list of suggested items and asked for a special sampler pack to be put together just for this giveaway…. and I know at least some of them will make it into the box 🙂

I’m excited to see what makes it into the mystery box too 🙂

Spotlight Series Day 22, Michelle- Pink and Main

Who are you?

13511419_1789103291309212_1538847675_n.png

I am Michelle, and I own Pink and Main. We sell clear stamps and dies, and have plans for more fun products in the future. I do the majority of the illustrating for the company, as well as everything else behind the scenes to keep the business going.

When did you first start drawing/designing seriously

I first started designing and illustrating in 2011, when I started selling digital cutting files for electronic die-cutting machines. It was in 2013 that I started to think about turning some of my designs into stamps. I have always been a crafty girl, and having my own business doing what I love is a dream come true!

What a Hoot

PNM004-What-a-Hoot-Dies-Web__50932.1464120153.1280.1280

What was the first product you ever had for sale?

What-a-hoot This was the first stamp set I designed for Pink and Main from one of my existing illustrations. It has been one of my most popular sellers as well.

Favorite quote?

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” by Henry Ford

What  job did you have BEFORE you started  drawing/designing for a living?

I was a Medical Technologist in a hospital lab for 11 years.

What’s your favorite color?

Pink, what else?!?

What’s your favorite horror movie?

My mom loves horror movies, so I grew up enjoying them too. I love them still, and have a hard time choosing a favorite. I do really like ‘The Ring’ and ‘Dawn of the Dead’, but some of the older films from the 80’s are great too.

Which decade do you think had the best music?

I am a child of the 80’s and I still love to listen to the music from then. Turn up the radio, Madonna is on!

What do you love most about all the people you meet through your work?

I have met some of the most wonderful people! I travel to vendor some conventions and have met and encountered the sweetest people you will ever meet! I have also met some other designers/creators in the industry and they could not have been nicer. I think it is wonderful to meet people who share the same passion for our craft, and support one another.

PM0180_magical_unicorns_4x6_web__39324.1460676298.1280.1280

Which drawing/product are you the most proud of in your collection?

If you asked me 10 years ago if I thought I could make a career at drawing, I would have laughed. I guess I never knew what I could do until I tried and practiced. I went to school for medical technology, so I had to teach myself to illustrate using the computer. It has been a hard road, but has been fun too, and I am most proud of these cute unicorns I recently illustrated. It makes my heart happy to know that others enjoy them as well.
