Cupcake thief foiled !! Cupcake Stand SVG

I had to fight off a cupcake thief to take this project photo…. nothing is safe in this house. I have always had a problem with having project photos photobombed by the li’l guy and his menagerie of toys and figures, but this one takes the biscuit.. .. well Chocolate Chocolate Muffin to be precise.  No that is not a typo, it’s a Double Chocolate Muffin….I can’t really blame him for trying to run off with it, they are yummy !

I had this fun little quick n easy  cupcake stand file to  make up, so I grabbed a Muffin the li’l guy made  and used that for my photo… damned if I didn’t see a set of sticky fingers run up and try and grab it right in front of the camera lol.
cup_muffinanywho….  this is a really simple cut file by Rae Carr over at CraftsUPrint… I doubled up my cut to make this gold glitter version… but if you have double sided paper, or are using plain card stock, you won’t need to do that.  I simply attached the two sections with tape  and assembled it.

I have an urge to recreate this in a multi-tiered version to see how it would  work out on a large scale.  It would be a fun one for kids birthday parties, school parties, Family get together, possibly done with a wipe-able platform for multiple use. …. so stay tuned for that one.

Very quick and easy project, simple materials, easy assembly… and definitely a good basic cut to have on hand.

Be Beautiful – layered card with watercolor effect

This is my latest project and features  an image by Cute As A Button “Wedding Day” and a bunch of  things from my latest craft hauls.  This is my December Inspirational Project  and also  my No. 3 Sketch with extra credits for the Message Board Sketch Challenge.   Some of the ladies and I are old friends from the Cricut Message Board days and this is a continuation of an old challenge on there. It’s a just for fun  monthly sketch challenge and all are welcome to come hang out and play.

I wanted to try something I’d been playing with the other week, the watercoloring with printer ink.. but expanded on the idea by including some of the new Zig Kuretake Manga ink I just got.  I picked  this particular ink for the fact it was water based, so I knew it would dilute and work with this technique.  It is a fast drying ink that becomes waterproof once dry and  smudge free with Alcohol markers.  Exactly what I need!  I also picked up a Fine H2o brush in this packet…  I have tried cheap versions of these which work.. ok.. but this one is definitely a much higher quality.
caab_b_beautiful_closeup_wmded
I gave the image a color wash with just water and the printer ink, then I slowly layered in a diluted ink to add in more depth and shadow.   It has a very subtle color because I  diluted it and then absorbed the excess as I worked,  but straight out of the bottle.. this is black as black can be. If you let it soak in instead of absorbing  it … the colors are also more pronounced.

The reason I picked up this ink is because  Artists all have their own style of drawing, some use thinner lines than others and that effects the amount of ink you have to pull from the printed image.  I have a gorgeous set of  Gansai Tambi watercolor paints I could have used..BUT  I wanted to experiment… PLUS these inks are waterproof once dried AND I can use the ink with various writing/drawing tools.

k let’s face it.. I just wanted to play with something new lol.  Wait till you get to see the other bottle of ink I picked up….

I added in some really subtle color on the image using my Chameleon Pens
NU00, BL2, BG1 & GR1.

This image was printed on  a Canson Mixed Media sheet  through the Epson Eco Tank.

ok.. now onto  the card itself.  I am not really  a fussy card maker..  but I do like to play around with ideas and try new things out, so now and then I’ll get a bit “fluffy”.

I had some fab new dies from Gina Marie designs I wanted to try out and so I mixed it up with some of those, some GM’s from a previous order, a die from my latest Blitsy order and some  Cheapie imports from Ebay.  And then I  had a play with my Martha Stewart punches….  for good measure.

Starting at the back and working forward..

Silver Glitter card stock,  local dollar store
Blue Recollections Card Stock  with  Martha Steward border punch set. If you want a continuous border, these punches all come with cutting instructions and sizes so you can get perfect  borders.  For this project I  wanted to play with an off cut pattern, just to add a little interest to the background.

Image is die cut with the new Mini Hearts Square set from Gina Marie Designs

On top of that are 3 cuts from the Gina Marie Flower Branch Die.. 2 were inked with a blue pad..one darker than the other for  some contrast and pearl cabochons were popped in the smaller centers for some subtle bling.

The butterfly and beautiful  cuts are from Gina Marie
The “Be” sentiment is from Blitsy
….and finally the small leafy sprigs came from Ebay.

I used  a mix of glues and tapes… details and links for the products used can be found below for anyone interested.

3/4 fold Christmas card

Really quick n simple 3/4 fold card that could be used for a variety of things….money card, gift card holder, or a fun 3/4 fold Christmas card… with matching envelope.

Image was printed on 110lb Georgia Pacific Index card, colored with my usual mix of Chameleon, Zig Kurecolor  and some Ranger Distress Markers…with a touch of Wink of Stella for some glam.
pixie_dust_wmdThe inside of the card was then lined with a glitter card stock.. nothing fancy, just dollar store card .. but it gives a  touch of glam and glitz to the card and strengthens the design for mailing if necessary.  The 3/4 edge was punched with a Martha Stewart Punch by the name of Aspen.  a co-ordinating strip was added to a matching envelope along with some matching snowflakes.

This image is a Scrapper’s Delights Image “Winter Elf Digi

I really like the Tim Holtz “Tumbled Glass”  pen for ice and snow effects and for adding a touch of color and shading to white fabrics etc. on images.

To turn it into a cash/gift card/ticket holder etc.. simply  glue/tape down the top and bottom edges of the 3/4 fold…and Voila…. insta pocket.

Supplies:

This is my Mid Month Inspiration Project over at Scrapper’s Delights Challenge Blog…. be sure to drop by and check out the DT projects…  and if you have a good eye for detail, you might even be able to pick up a free digi.

Bloobel Stamps “Heart Moustache” Oversized Card

When I say Oversized… he is OVER sized lol. Just as well no one is getting their hands on this one, or I would have a heck of a job finding an envelope for him… LOL

This card measures in at a whopping 7 by 11 inches ….and I love it.  I left room at the bottom for a sentiment…. or humorous quote, when I decide what I want on there.

I  think this was the first Bloobel digital stamp that I ever laid eyes on a few months ago…and I have been coveting him for months.  I finally bit the bullet and grabbed him last week.  There is something very Dapper about this “young” man that just appealed to me and my British background.

Anyways …. I was good this time and actually took some progress pics too, I really wanted to show off these fab papers before they got covered up in layers.

I will add a list at the end of all the products used…. but here he is…. “Heart Moustache” in all his vintage “dapper” glory.

Bloobel_Dapper_1_finishedClick on the thumbnails below for a closer look at the project progress.

Image:

Bloobel Stamps –  Heart Moustache
Colored withZig KureColor Markers
Printed on Georgia Pacific 110lb Index Card Stock
Edges inked and smudged with Ranger “Tim Holtz” Walnut Distress Ink

Background paper

Striped Velvet Paper  –  This is an SEI Velvet paper from  craftadvantage

Vintage  paper –  hand made using Ranger Archive Ink on Recollections Card Stock, edges distressed with Ranger “Tim Holtz”  Walnut & Fossilized Amber.

Stamps are from my random collection of new and used stamps and I used too many to list, so don’t expect names ..sorry.  If you see a specific stamp  you want details on I will do my best to share that info. Some were from Michaels, some were from Ebay.   Some of the Ebay ones were unmounted, so I don’t know who made them….or what they are called.

Wrought Iron effect corners were done by stippling Ranger clear embossing ink on a sheet of paper with an old 2 inch paint brush and then embossed with Recollections Clear embossing Powder.

Main card base is from a pack of 11×14 Poster Board from a dollar store, scored and folded.

Vintage and velvet layers are mounted on Darice adhesive foam sheets

Glues  – I used a mixture of Tombow Aqua, Xyron Mega runner and a hot glue gun

Well I think that about covers it, if I forgot anything ..fee free to leave a question in the comments  🙂  I hope you liked the card..it was a fun one to make.

Quick and easy Toddler craft gifts

jar_4

My son and I are making a bunch of grandparent/ Great Grandparent gifts this year..now that he is finally able to create things  without too much help. You saw his first Frame…. now he is making some decorative bath salt jars for the grandmas’s and great grandma’s …. I had an important role.. peeling the stickers off the backing once he chose what he wanted and filling them with bath salts lol… Go me !! Master Crafter at work ….

I put a towel down on my craft table, since these are glass just to avoid  any accidental
drops smashing the containers.   This is a super cute project…. supplies are very simple :

…and yes,  that is my son.. he has long hair and it comes almost to his butt now.  We tie it back in a messy Japanese knot when he is crafting.

Ebay, it’s like the dollar store that delivers!!

ALERT Link above contains an affiliate link, I will earn commission from purchase made through this link.

I  love shopping for  craft supplies on Ebay… it’s so easy to pick up cheap knick knacks and embellishments.  Admittedly you get what you pay for.. but you know what..I’ve been pleasantly surprised by most all of my Ebay  “dollar store” purchases.

Now admittedly I make a lot of purchases on here that are NOT even close to $1… but heh.

Last night I found and ordered some cool new items to test out… I will  do an update post when they all arrive.

empty pens

I ordered these for a little experiment…. at 99 cents a pop and free shipping.. it ain’t gonna break the bank if it doesn’t work  🙂 Fillable ink  brush tip pens… woot!

MP3
I also ordered a little MP3 player.. I’ve had these before and at this price.. they really are handy to have around.  My last one lasted almost as long as my Apple Shuffle which sure as heck didn’t cost a buck.  Great for those late night crafting sessions 🙂

gears

Now admittedly, these were more than a buck.. but I wanted these for some KennyK projects 🙂 15g of gears and cogs for $9 including shipping.

I hope these are cool.

diamonte

Again.. not a buck.. but close enough $1.98 including shipping for a 1 meter length of rhinestone..figured this might be cool to play with.

vinyl

….and last but not least, I grabbed a sheet of this to check it out.

100cm x 45cm PVC Matte Black Self-adhesive Sticker Plastic Vinyl Glass Film New

These things come on the slow boat from China.. so It will be a few weeks before they get here… plenty of time to figure out what projects I want to do with them.. right 🙂
