First of.. sorry, I got so caught up with personal stuff I totally forgot to post the winner for the last Crafty Awesomeness Challenge… DOH! So that will be posted on the 15th along with the latest Crafty Bugaboo Challenge winner.
We had visitors from out of state and we ran off to play hookey in the woods.. my sons first vacation. He had an absolute blast… so many first were crammed into those 4 days lol.
He got his first horse and carriage ride around the city, petted his first Guinea Pig, first vacation, first time camping, first time fishing, first worm.. lol that was hilarious haha. He got to play on a beach for the first time… admittedly it was sand on the side of a big lake… which to me…. isn’t a beach…. but he loved it. He got his first baseball glove and his first boxing gloves and punch bag.
When we got home we were so tired we went to bed and then when we woke up… lil man was sick :/ …but he is all good now and mommy has some major catch up to do. I pretty much turned off all technology for a few days, and now I am paying for it haha. But so worth it to see how much fun the lil man had.
But now we are back to the real world….and momma got some work to do!
We picked up some cool items along the lake shore to use in craft projects, there are new shaker card windows coming.. and a bunch more blog posts to get caught up..as well as the new Bugaboo challenge on the 15th… so lots to do. I am also still jobhunting and getting ready to move, so craziness abounds! But Halloween is coming .. Muhahahaha
Ok all you Bugaboostamps fans.. shake a leg and make sure you don’t miss out on this week’s freebie…GUS FISH WHISPERER.
Yup our darlin’ Gus is this weeks freebie.
You still have time to grab it and enter our Bugaboo Crafty Challenge before the 15th too…. even more chance to snag some fab freebies from Bugaboo Stamps if you are our random winner.
While you are there don’t forget to check out the New Releases 🙂 I saw a fun new one of a guy with a lawn mower… another fun male image to grab for those guy cards.
I am a creature of moods and I already kinda jumped the gun a few weeks ago and got over zealous and posted what ‘should’ have been my DT project. I liked it so much I couldn’t wait to share, which is great.. except that left me needing to do a second project. I was desperately trying to come up with something I really wanted to do and of course ….I got sidetracked coloring Roosters and cutting cut files and all that other fun stuff… like you do LOL
So here I am, or was …. half a day left to pull off a Project… and my lil guy wanted to go out. So off we went to Michaels and then Toys R Us and while I was there I picked up some stamps for him and some bits n bobs for me ….INCLUDING something I had wanted to try for ages.
I had been wanting to make a Chipboard project and I found this great 2 pack of Chipboard albums for just $4.99 ..it was perfect. Well except I only had a few hours to actually pull it off lol. So my apologies for the late showing… but I hope it’s worth it and you at least enjoy this crazy tangent head post.
Because I am not just going to show you the project…
I’m going to share with you some of the origins of what inspired me to make it. If you are British, some of it may be familiar… if you aren’t .. maybe you will learn something new.
Ok.. so here it is , this is the front cover of my ‘Album’ and I chose the smaller of the two Chipboard kits which measures approx 7×6.5. My image this month is called Girlz – wiggle the bait
I covered it with a foiled ‘fish scale’ sheet from a DCWV I won called Coastal It has some fab papers in it..in fact I used one of them in that other project too.
I used Elizabeth Designs double side adhesive to attach it to the chipboard… just for speed since I have a 6 inch wide roll of it sitting here staring at me lol.I cut the paper slight over sized and used a punch to make matching holes to the chipboard. popped it on .. smoothed it out and tucked in the edges.. then I lined it with a matching sheet of Recollections 65lb card.
What it actually will be when I get the contents pages done….is a Recipe book…. for Fish. I have a friend who’s husband fishes… when he isn’t falling off 2 foot high walls and breaking bones that is… yes seriously he broke his pelvis fishing a few years ago by falling off a two foot wall. We jokingly refer to him as the $6 man, he has been rebuilt ..almost from scratch these past few years.
…and my friend…. well she loves to cook..and pin recipes and post them all over my Facebook feed at 3 am and gives me the munchies.. so I am dedicating this project to those two. I left the top space blank as it will be personalized ..so for privacy reasons… I will add that later 🙂
The lyrics on the front of the book read:
Dance ti’ thy daddy, sing ti’ thy mammy,
Dance ti’ thy daddy, ti’ thy mammy sing;
Thou shall hev a fishy on a little dishy,
Thou shall hev a fishy when the boat comes in.
These were the lyrics for a show back in the 70’s when I was growing up in the Northern part of the UK. It was called When the Boat comes in and starred James Bolam, a very well reknowned British actor who has starred in a bunch of great Tv series. It was a period drama series set in post-World War I northeast England…and I grew up watching this. I lived on the North East coast till I was about 8 years old, so I have fond memories of the coast and all the small fishing villages… and the smell of Kippers smoking.
How I miss those Geordie tones!
anywho… this was the inspiration for my theme.
The inside pages where the recipes and such like will be is made of the same 65lb card stock as the inside liner, in various hues of blue. I’ll be adding in little fun facts, quotes and images and such to the pages as well as room to write, or stick recipes. It’s kind of like a journal… but for recipes…with some fun facts and images thrown in.
So there you have it.. a Fun Fish filled Recipe book with a touch of British Nostalgia thrown in.
I will be compensated for purchases made through affiliate links on this page
Well I couldn’t resist one more quick die haul before my little shopping spree for the year ended.. so I grabbed these.
Mini hearts square set
I don’t have a lot of masculine dies so the GONE FISHING DIES set was a definite plus…. I have a friend with a husband who loves to fish and I am sure I can find some fun humorous sentiments to go with these. He is terribly accident prone and has pretty much been rebuilt more times than the Bionic man… so he has a sense of humor that matches my own lol. Just as well really since he is such an easy EASY target haha. Any man who can break their pelvis while standing on a two foot wall fishing… just gotta learn to roll with the punchlines LOL.
He has been more trouble since he retired than ever…. who knows what he will get up to next. In this weeks saga… he is getting surgery on the finger he decided to chop off at the tip last week. *rolleyes. Rest assured, all of the appropriate jokes have been distributed and his wife has declared herself unwilling to scratch his butt for him if he chops anything else off lol.
Aint love Grand !!! But we love him anyway… he’s like that 3 year old who gets into trouble and you give them the stern lecture, while trying not to giggle at their antics. He’s my favorite A$$hat and I would be lost without my partner in crime when it comes to bad humor.
.. I love my frame sets, so had to grab at least one of these MINI HEART LACE SQUARE DIE SET ..and they kinda look like 4 leaf clovers in this design too.. so perfect for St Patrick’s Day and good luck cards.
Once again Alyce Keegan has pulled off another fab set of Create & Learn classes… this time we have one for the boys. Although, as always the techniques learnt can be used with ANY image to create some fabulous backgrounds.
AND to make things even better, this month there is a free class for student.. a fab class on coloring wood. Be sure to check the Create & Learn classes this month.
..and of course you can join the “Clowdies” over on the Kit & Clowder Facebook Group for social, sharing, advice, support and …..general craziness… come on over!!!
