How many GMD dies can you fit on one card project?

.. at least 6 LOL

I exploded Easter with this fun card filled with Gina Marie Designs die cuts.  I have a bunch of new dies sitting on my desk ..along with a gazillion other things I haven’t even had a chance to pull out of their packaging and I  decided I was going to get stuck in  this week.  I had no idea till I started just how well the dies I had were all going to pull together.  If you are a regular  Gina Marie Designs  addict, you will most likely recognize most, if not all of these dies.. but for those of you who don’t, there is a list of supplies at the bottom of the post  ūüôā

Plenty of room for a sentiment if/ when needed too…  just a fun, die crazy card… if you added a banner cut sentiment… that would make at least 7 GMD’s .. or a sentiment die too like the Happy Easter ..or 8 if you  had the stitched sun from the stitched skies set.. which I don’t have YET !

New cut files, lacy bands, cityscape, dots and backgrounds

I just finished up a few of the new cut files I got from CraftsUPrint the other week.. before the birthday shenanigans descended upon us LOL. What a week that was.. full of fun and games and Lego.. and cake… and a lot of Ice cream lol. But now it’s time to get back to my crafting and coloring.

Ok first up.. this is just a quickie plain card, no sentiment or foreground image.. but you could most certainly add them if and when you wanted to. I was just experimenting with inky skies and this fab new CityScape cut file I picked up. To be honest I have a larger project on the go right now using this… but it won’t be done for a bit. ¬†But this will give you an idea of how cool this CityScape is. cuts beautifully on my Cricut, even with all the window detail it has. ¬†There are some tiny nail bling rhinestones on this but they didn’t show up so well in this photo..

This is¬†Cityscape City Skyline, Night Sky for card and vinyl ¬†by Tina Fallon, mine is cropped slightly at the ends…. ¬†so ¬†check the link for the complete image.

NEXT !!
Lacy Ribbons 1 with spiral roses by Clive Coulter.  This is a 3 cut set.. 2 ribbons and the spiral roses.  I used one of the ribbons to create a background strip on this card along with one of the new frames I made with the new Gina Marie Designs Dies

DOUBLE PIERCED CIRCLE IN AND OUT CUT DIE SET

and  the

MINI HEART LACE CIRCLE DIE SET

..and A Power Poppy Image “Dancing with Daffodils” which I colored with Chameleon Pens. ¬†I attached it all with Zig 2 way glue..yay for no wet warp! ¬†lol

NEXT

Ok.. this one was just me playing with new stuff I ¬†have.. love this cut file, it reminds me of Morrocco for some reason… ¬†and I had some liquid pearls I picked up on clearance a while back.. ¬†so ¬†I ¬†was tinkering around. ¬†This is Compass Pattern by Lizzie Mayne¬† ¬†I added some My little paper world stitched corners and some jade liquid pearls
and lastly.. just having some fun with the latest batch of freebies I got in the Treasure chest.. who doesn’t love cup cakes huh? ¬†the base card is ¬†FANCY CARD 11¬†by¬†Apetroae Stefan and ¬†the sentiment and cupcake are from the Treasure Chest Freebies you can select when you spend $15 ¬†or more ( $10 when on offer ) ¬†I only used the top two layers of the Decoupage .. so I still have the bottom layer for another project ¬†ūüôā

“Poppy Fairy” Matted art in Pencil

This one was a ¬†lot of work, but I love how she turned out. ¬†She was printed on a 9×12 piece of Canson Mixed Media Paper and colored with Crayola Color Escapes, the ¬†new¬†“Grown up Crayolas” as I like to call them. ¬† She is part of the New Release collection for March over at Cute As A Button this month. ¬†I added a black photo mat to¬†this and will frame it ¬†and gift it to someone.

Go check out all the fun new images and don’t forget to pop on over and check out the Inspiration Blog & Facebook Group for new challenges ūüôā

IHEART Ants!

Here is my second DT projects for the Crafty Awesomeness Challenge which is sponsored by Sasayaki Glitter this month . this is the same image my son watercolored for his thank you card.. it’s so piggin cute..and somehow Gina must be psychic. These fun ant dies from Gina Marie Designs were in my packet with my last order..just in time for this project.

This isn’t a die set I wouldn’t normally have ordered…. but they are fab for this image and I love how this turned out.  They are one of those fun sets that you don’t know you need, till you get them.

Image is Image #13 – Heart Ants printed on Canson Mix Media 9×12icon paper and colored with Zig Clean color markers
Ants are cut from 65lb black Recollections card using Ants Die Set by Gina Marie Designs
Flowers are acetate die cuts colored with Chameleon pens and some beads glued in the center.
The lattice is part of a set called 3 Trellis Mats by Clive Couter on CraftsUPrint, the set has a bunch of cuts so it’s a handy one to have for allsorts of projects.  I cut these on my Cricut Explore using 65lb Recollections card.
Adhesives used were Zig Photo Tape and Zig 2  way glue

Cute As A Button over the edge combo card

I have another new Over the edge card cut file from CraftsUPrint today.  I love these files because they are so versatile. .. with a little tweaking you can change the dimensions to make square cards,  crop them for edging acetate panel cards, draw the designs instead of cutting, rotate them, adjust the score lines to make 3/4 folds.. so many options… or of couree, leave them as is  LOL

This one is

FLORAL OVER THE EDGE 37 by Apetroae Stefan

I kept pretty much as it comes in the original file, I just left out the contrasting insert.  I added burgundy pearl cabochons to the flowers and  added  the image  which is a clear stamp from Cute As A Button.  I  colored this one in subdued tones using  Tim Holtz distress pens on Canson Mix Media 9×12icon paper, popped it on a sheet of foam and added contrasting shabby cut layers.

You can find Autumn Fairy in the Cute As A Button store in both clear and digital formats.

Velvet and Acetate fairy layers birthday card

This is one of my latest ¬†cut file purchases ..isn’t she cute. ¬†I decided to go with a bold contrast look and ¬†chose silver glitter for the card base, an acetate window and black velvet paper over 110lb card stock to create this cute card.¬†The Fairy topper was cut on the Cricut Explore from a CraftsUPrint cut file. ¬† The texture on this card is quite cool…. smooth acetate, fine textured glitter ¬†card and then the lush velvet… makes for a great tactile card.

Details and links to supplies below.

Guest Designer – Lil ‘ Man D – Thank You card and Bookmark

You may have seen ¬†my posts on Facebook last week about my lil man and his first watercolor project…. well he was at it again tonight ¬†ūüôā

My little man was given an early birthday present last weekend by a lady who works with hubby, so this is her Thank You card and a little book mark for her to use in her Bible, or other reading matter. ¬†Now it goes without saying, since he is only 4 …. that he had a little help …SURPRISE !! lol. ¬†But the painting is all him.

He may be a crafty wee soul, but ¬†this mommy isn’t ready to let him lose ¬†with a laminator and glue all by himself .. my sanity is questionable at the best of times .. but not THAT bad haha. ¬†Unlike someone we won’t mention by name who’s grandson glued himself up trying to apply “lotion” to his legs whilst visiting her craft room last week lol…. sorry.. I am still giggling over that one .. my bad.

The images he colored are :

Image #13 РHeart Ants Рby Sasayaki Glitter & a section cropped from Pure Prairie Bouquet by Power Poppy.

The card and bookmark were colored using Gansai Tambi watercolors and a Zig Kuretake H2o brush.

The card ¬†is a hot pink 5×6.5″ from a multicolor pack at Michaels
A background layer of rough cut 65lb black Recollections card from the value packs
The image is printed on Canson Mix Media Paper on my Epson Eco Tank and also had a rough cut edging. I added the sentiment “There is beauty in creation” and a border to the image before printing. ¬†This was also foam popped on a Darice adhesive foam sheet and attached using a double side tape. The card layers were ¬†attached with Zig Photo Tape and the Sentiment which was a cheapie import die was attached with Tombow Aqua.

The Book mark is backed with a light tan 65lb card ¬†with a hint of a border showing behind the image cut from the front, and I attached a tassle from a value pack at Michaels. I added a cute little bead ¬†that I got ¬†in a happy mail package from Francesca at Cute As A Button¬†when she very kindly shared her destash items with the DT team ūüôā ¬†It says “Always” on one side and “Believe” on the other… pretty appropriate for a Bible Bookmark.

I hope you like it

Bugaboo Zen Meets Psycho-delic-ious

Don’t look at me like you never did it ¬†before… We’ve all walked in and seen paper we just know we are never gonna use on a project.. but bought it anyway because it’s so darn fun. SO dammit..I’m gonna have some fun with my background on this one lol. ¬†I’m not sure why I liked this so much..I am not usually a glittery ¬†over abundantly colorful kind a gal really. Maybe it appeals to my ¬†my nerdy galactic ¬†side?? ¬†Sure I was a 70’s kid.. but trust me, I am not ….and never was enamored with the fashion of the era.

anywho…. It seemed to fit the card perfectly….at least in my warped mind haha.

Ok.. so keeping it simple.. this is the Flower Doodles 2 stamp from Bugaboo stamps and this was the mystery image I added in as a ¬†challenge to the DT girls. ¬†It has a Zentangle, mandala type feel to it… so perfect for all the adults coloring book fiends out there. ¬†No .. not a typo…. some of YOU have friends…. some of us have fiends! Fun ones, loyal ones, lovable and cute ones.. but fiends all the same ūüôā ¬†This is just one of a bunch of fun coloring book style images at Bugaboo Stamps

ok so this was colored with.. ¬†an H2o ink wash using my Zig H2o fine brush, which I LOVE… and then Chameleon Pens. The dotted stitch die on the image is a Gina Marie Dot Stud.. SURPRISE !!! lol ¬† and ¬†the mini heart lace frame on the lower layer is also a Gina Marie Designs Die. ¬†The card base is cut from a super lime slime green 65lb card from one of the Value Recollections packs at Michaels. ¬†Zig Photo tape was used to assemble the card. ¬† No sentiment… It’s more of a casual note card type than occasion card… but of course any sentiment can be added as needed.

Bugaboo Sketch Challenge inspired notebook

I was cruising along doing my thing when I ran across the ¬†new Bugaboo Stamps latest “Stella Says Sketch Challenge”. ¬†Now I am not a huge fan of sketch challenges..I like to do my own thing.. but once in a while a sketch will catch my eye and I’m like

“hmm.. yup..I can work with that! “

….and this ¬†was one of them. ¬†This is the Sketch for Challenge 502 which runs till February 6th. ¬†Now I am kind of used to our sketch challenge on the message board..which is VERY relaxed as far as “rules goes” ¬†and very open to artistic license. They are an inspiration/ suggestion not an absolute LOL.. so everyone is used to me skipping ¬†the sentiments section on my cards and projects.

Sometimes they just don’t need one, other times I want to leave it ¬†till I know who the recipient is… or let’s face it.. it’s me!! Sometimes it’s just not something I should probably post pictures of for the masses lol.
In this case, it just doesn’t need one… it’s a notebook, not a card. ¬†I just wanted to have some fun with these Bugaboo Stamps I have in my collection and practice ¬†blending techniques with my Chameleon Pens. ¬†I will enter it any way, just to show it off for anyone who cares to ¬†check it out…and to show a bit of support for one of our Sponsors Challenges.
Anywho here is my fun little notebook, made from scratch using a Fellowes Comb Binder and Plastic Combs.  The images used are Hedgehog Flower and Mini Set- Spring Flower Blocks which is a set of 6.  Colored with Chameleon Pens on Canson Mix Media the notebook was made using Recollections card for the cover and the inside pages.

I was considering laminating the covers, but decided against it. ¬†The center panel was layers of black & white matching card stock and I used Zig Kuretake Photo Tape Runner for my adhesive. and the ¬†Hedgehog was also printed on white, then colored and Die cut using one of my newer Gina Marie Designs Dies “MINI HEART LACE SQUARE DIE SET”

This one ¬†may or may not join my abandoned art project bucket… it’s kinda cute and I may keep it.

Be sure to enter your Bugaboo Stamps Projects in their Challenges..at “Catch the Bug Challenge Spot”

and of course our brand new one that started this month “Bugaboo Crafty Challenge”. ¬†It’s a monthly prize challenge that starts on the 15th of each month for Bugaboo Stamp projects

.. and then of course you can also enter it in the “Crafty Awesomeness Challenge” here on the blog too, which is an anything goes and starts on the 1st of each month.

CraftsUPrint Cricut SVG cut file Catch up!

I had a bunch of new files before Christmas that I didn’t get to  make up….so I decided to play catch up and zipped through a few of them tonight. One of them was already cut, another was already made up..I just didn’t get a chance to photograph it.  The other two I had made up, but messed up … so these were remakes and I actually like these versions better anyway LOL.

Now bear in mind I get SVG’s because I have a Cricut Explore, but most of these designers design in multiple formats for various cutting machines.  So when I refer to design space or Cricut,  that doesn’t mean you can’t use these cut files too…check and see.

Also… just an FYI, these files are not always as standard.  I  import them into Design Space and tweak them a little to suit my own needs. Changing cut areas to write, duplicating layers and using the contour tool to remove the cut outs etc to create a solid background on layers…  moving score lines to give a 3/4 fold etc.  So please bear in mind most of these files come with a center fold and are  set up for cutting, not writing.  If you are new to the Cricut, you may not know how  to modify things like that yet… never fear..it’s not rocket science.

Ok first one  was a remake… I originally started with a watercolored background in the cutouts, looked great but I bombed it when I stuck in on the inside… so take 2.. has a vellum insert and some cute pink ribbon detailing.  I scalloped the card on my paper cutter for a softer edge.

This cut file is: floral card 2 by Clive Couter, I have a few of his designs and really enjoy using these.

Next is a  simple little hello card. I had pre-cut this on green glitter card with the intention of using a Christmas design, but Christmas is long gone… so I just switched out that idea and  used a stamp from one of the new Layering sets by Hampton Arts.  I die cut the circle with a die from some Steampunk gears I picked up on Ebay.  It is stamped with Stazon and colored with Zig Clean Color… and a simple little “Hello” die sentiment, again an Ebay buy.

This cut file is from: over-the-fold-cards-1 by Lyn Simms

The next one was  done on black card using  a Zig chalk pen and pencils and I added an oversized die cut sentiment. I also flipped it on it’s side.  You will need a Chomas Adapter to use the Zig pens to write and draw on your Cricut Explore.

This cut file is: floral-over-the-edge-5
by apetroae-stefan

This one I duplicated the layer, welded  the holly leaves and  then  moved the score line to create a half fold hard.  I would probably have added in some red cabochons for the holly berries… but to be honest.. I have no idea where I stuck them lol.
