Discover High Hopes Rubber Stamps

I apologize ENABLER ALERT !!!! haha

This is a company that is totally new to me, I discovered them on Twitter and they have some adorable stamps…. they also have a challenge..and we all know how much we love challenges AND new goodies.  More info  on the challenge and how to get the free digital stamp  so you can join in at the bottom of this post  If you are new to this company too, this is a fab way to  join in and maybe win some of these rubber stamps if you are interested in trying them out.

I was having a quick browse around and thought I would share some of the ones that caught my eye.  As most of you regulars know by now, I have a son who is 5 tomorrow ( Where did time go) and we plan to homeschool.  Creativity is a huge part of our learning process and the lil guy LOVES to craft.  That being said I am always on the lookout for  things for him to use and also things that can be used in “school” projects…. hey no one said education had to be boring… lol.

One of the first things that caught my eye were the backgrounds; these are perfect for both of us, both for card making and  adding visuals to  stories and essays etc  later on as he learns to write his own stories.

I love backgrounds, but I am pretty picky  and most of the ones I have are  digital .. but I love these..

Forest Background T057

Treasure Map T054

Speedy Recovery Background U004

Space Scape U149

and then of course we have fairies ..  sorry Merrie haha.. There are so many cool stamps at this store.. they come in foam mounted and unmounted.  Categories galore… oh dear this could get me in trouble if the little guy sees these…No crafty budget right now.. but if he sees Dragons…. oh my !

I will be adding this one into  the  tab above for stamps.. it is currently called DIGIS.. but I think I need to update it to STAMPS, since I  am finding more and more cute stamp companies who do physical stamps…  So expect to see that updated soon.

ok I promised you  details on the High Hopes March challenge..so here they are.

For your chance to win 2 FREE High Hopes Stamps.

You can enter this challenge to win rubber stamps using  the free digital stamp provided, if you do not currently own any High Hopes stamps. There is a link to the freebies, you have two to choose from.  You must use a High Hopes Image.   Check the High Hopes Challenge post for more details and links to the free images.

I hope some of you join in, I think I will have a go at this one.. maybe see if my little guy wants to enter too…. he is a crafting machine lately  LOL

Cute As A Button over the edge combo card

I have another new Over the edge card cut file from CraftsUPrint today.  I love these files because they are so versatile. .. with a little tweaking you can change the dimensions to make square cards,  crop them for edging acetate panel cards, draw the designs instead of cutting, rotate them, adjust the score lines to make 3/4 folds.. so many options… or of couree, leave them as is  LOL

This one is

FLORAL OVER THE EDGE 37 by Apetroae Stefan

I kept pretty much as it comes in the original file, I just left out the contrasting insert.  I added burgundy pearl cabochons to the flowers and  added  the image  which is a clear stamp from Cute As A Button.  I  colored this one in subdued tones using  Tim Holtz distress pens on Canson Mix Media 9×12icon paper, popped it on a sheet of foam and added contrasting shabby cut layers.

You can find Autumn Fairy in the Cute As A Button store in both clear and digital formats.

Guest Designer – Lil ‘ Man D – Thank You card and Bookmark

You may have seen  my posts on Facebook last week about my lil man and his first watercolor project…. well he was at it again tonight  🙂

My little man was given an early birthday present last weekend by a lady who works with hubby, so this is her Thank You card and a little book mark for her to use in her Bible, or other reading matter.  Now it goes without saying, since he is only 4 …. that he had a little help …SURPRISE !! lol.  But the painting is all him.

He may be a crafty wee soul, but  this mommy isn’t ready to let him lose  with a laminator and glue all by himself .. my sanity is questionable at the best of times .. but not THAT bad haha.  Unlike someone we won’t mention by name who’s grandson glued himself up trying to apply “lotion” to his legs whilst visiting her craft room last week lol…. sorry.. I am still giggling over that one .. my bad.

The images he colored are :

Image #13 – Heart Ants – by Sasayaki Glitter & a section cropped from Pure Prairie Bouquet by Power Poppy.

The card and bookmark were colored using Gansai Tambi watercolors and a Zig Kuretake H2o brush.

The card  is a hot pink 5×6.5″ from a multicolor pack at Michaels
A background layer of rough cut 65lb black Recollections card from the value packs
The image is printed on Canson Mix Media Paper on my Epson Eco Tank and also had a rough cut edging. I added the sentiment “There is beauty in creation” and a border to the image before printing.  This was also foam popped on a Darice adhesive foam sheet and attached using a double side tape. The card layers were  attached with Zig Photo Tape and the Sentiment which was a cheapie import die was attached with Tombow Aqua.

The Book mark is backed with a light tan 65lb card  with a hint of a border showing behind the image cut from the front, and I attached a tassle from a value pack at Michaels. I added a cute little bead  that I got  in a happy mail package from Francesca at Cute As A Button when she very kindly shared her destash items with the DT team 🙂  It says “Always” on one side and “Believe” on the other… pretty appropriate for a Bible Bookmark.

I hope you like it

🙂 One Proud Mommy

Fun block stamp cards for cat & dog lovers

I  picked up these two cute block stamps over at Bugaboo Stamps last night too when I got my unicorns… and a few others lol.

I wanted some fun cards to use for our Abandoned Art missions and these are perfect to be abandoned near the local vet office which is just across the road, as well as  near our local Pet co, PetSmart etc.  I might even drop a few off at a local shelter, they would make cute ‘thank you’ cards for new adopters,  volunteers, veterinary support etc.

These were really quick to make.. just a few shabby card layers, some foam layers and a bit of tape and popped onto a colored card base from some of my card sets I have.  I used double sided adhesive tape on the foam courtesy of my friends at Crafting Ability.  They sent me some of their “commercial grade” tape to try when I mentioned I was on the look out for something heavy duty.  It’s fabulous stuff and saves me using up my Zig /Kuretake photo tape runners on the foam sheets.

The images I used are from the January Releases BugKittyBlocks & BugPupBlocks and they were colored with Chameleon Pens

Humorous Christmas Card ..getting ready for 2017

This is a Bugaboo Stamps Friday Freebie, if you didn’t grab it..you still have a few days left to get it before the new Freebie comes out.  It’s called “Winter Penguin Trio”  I am still playing with Christmas images… nothing like getting a head start on next 2017 cards lol.

I knocked up a super quick and simple card. It’s just a single fold on an 8.5×11 sheet of Black card, the image was printed on Canson mixed Media and colored with Chameleon pens. I added the inside sentiment to the bottom of the photo, just so you get the intended humor.  The image is foam popped on a sheet of Darice foam and the sentiment is a die cut from a Momenta die I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby last week.  I cut it on black card then rewrote the sentiment with a Zig Chalk Pen.  Tore up the edges and sponged on a blue ink edging.bug_penguin_trio

Supplies:

Recollections 65lb card -Black
Canson Mixed Media Paper 7×10
Chameleon Pens
Zig Chalk Marker Dual tip – white
Momenta “Believe” die – Hobby Lobby clearance
Craftsmart Dye Ink Pad  –  Light Blue
Darice Adhesive foam sheet
Zig Photo Tape

Be Beautiful – layered card with watercolor effect

This is my latest project and features  an image by Cute As A Button “Wedding Day” and a bunch of  things from my latest craft hauls.  This is my December Inspirational Project  and also  my No. 3 Sketch with extra credits for the Message Board Sketch Challenge.   Some of the ladies and I are old friends from the Cricut Message Board days and this is a continuation of an old challenge on there. It’s a just for fun  monthly sketch challenge and all are welcome to come hang out and play.

I wanted to try something I’d been playing with the other week, the watercoloring with printer ink.. but expanded on the idea by including some of the new Zig Kuretake Manga ink I just got.  I picked  this particular ink for the fact it was water based, so I knew it would dilute and work with this technique.  It is a fast drying ink that becomes waterproof once dry and  smudge free with Alcohol markers.  Exactly what I need!  I also picked up a Fine H2o brush in this packet…  I have tried cheap versions of these which work.. ok.. but this one is definitely a much higher quality.
caab_b_beautiful_closeup_wmded
I gave the image a color wash with just water and the printer ink, then I slowly layered in a diluted ink to add in more depth and shadow.   It has a very subtle color because I  diluted it and then absorbed the excess as I worked,  but straight out of the bottle.. this is black as black can be. If you let it soak in instead of absorbing  it … the colors are also more pronounced.

The reason I picked up this ink is because  Artists all have their own style of drawing, some use thinner lines than others and that effects the amount of ink you have to pull from the printed image.  I have a gorgeous set of  Gansai Tambi watercolor paints I could have used..BUT  I wanted to experiment… PLUS these inks are waterproof once dried AND I can use the ink with various writing/drawing tools.

k let’s face it.. I just wanted to play with something new lol.  Wait till you get to see the other bottle of ink I picked up….

I added in some really subtle color on the image using my Chameleon Pens
NU00, BL2, BG1 & GR1.

This image was printed on  a Canson Mixed Media sheet  through the Epson Eco Tank.

ok.. now onto  the card itself.  I am not really  a fussy card maker..  but I do like to play around with ideas and try new things out, so now and then I’ll get a bit “fluffy”.

I had some fab new dies from Gina Marie designs I wanted to try out and so I mixed it up with some of those, some GM’s from a previous order, a die from my latest Blitsy order and some  Cheapie imports from Ebay.  And then I  had a play with my Martha Stewart punches….  for good measure.

Starting at the back and working forward..

Silver Glitter card stock,  local dollar store
Blue Recollections Card Stock  with  Martha Steward border punch set. If you want a continuous border, these punches all come with cutting instructions and sizes so you can get perfect  borders.  For this project I  wanted to play with an off cut pattern, just to add a little interest to the background.
White 110lb index Card
Blue Recollections Card Stock
Image is popped on a layer of Darice Foam
Image is die cut with the new Mini Hearts Square set from Gina Marie Designs

On top of that are 3 cuts from the Gina Marie Flower Branch Die.. 2 were inked with a blue pad..one darker than the other for  some contrast and pearl cabochons were popped in the smaller centers for some subtle bling.

The butterfly and beautiful  cuts are from Gina Marie
The “Be” sentiment is from Blitsy
….and finally the small leafy sprigs came from Ebay.

I used  a mix of glues and tapes… details and links for the products used can be found below for anyone interested.

Sarcastic Birthday Card for the over 21’s

The minute I saw this image I knew I had to have it….she is perfect for my sense of humor. This is my, rather late DT Project for this months Crafty Awesomeness Challenge. I can finally get access to my craft carts  now the ceilings and carpets are in.

This is Bianca Doll Stamp, one of a bunch of really cool images by KaraDollStudio on Etsy.  I printed her on Canson Mixed Media  paper, colored with Chameleon Pens and then I scanned it into my software and added the sentiment and border. I then reprinted the colored version on the same Mixed Media Paper. I took a wet brush to add in some subtle shadow in the same way I did in previous projects using only the printer ink.

The main image is popped on foam and the background  is made up of a lacy cut from Gina Marie Designs using the Lacy Lattice.

Full details of materials used below 🙂

Have your elf a merry lil Kissmas….

I wanted to try something different, along the lines of some old photography pieces I did way back in the days when I had film and a darkroom.   I have always loved the Monochrome look with a splash of color.  To be entirely honest, I didn’t start off with the intention of making a monochrome type project….and my photography was a lot more Black and White..like almost totally black and white with very little gray haha…. but I love this softer look too.

I was laying down some base shadow in a technique I like to use for color depth, but it was a lighter shade than I usually use and when I  wandered off  to make a cup of tea… it caught my eye as I went back into my craft space. I use the term “craft space” very lightly   haha.  As some of you know I was packing to move and  then not move so my crafting space is..  undergoing some changes lol.  If about 1 foot of workable space and a tonne of boxes and totes counts..I have a craft space.

Anywho as I looked at it, I came to the conclusion I really  liked the mono look for this image.  I had already colored the skin  but that was the only color at that point other than this gorgeous soft gray tone.  I added in a splash of color for the bells and foliage… randomly swirled glue around the edges and went crazy with this fun white glitter I bought last year and have been dying to use…. except whenever I want to use it, I can’t find it..and when I find it, I don’t want to use it haha.   Finally I found it AND wanted to use it.. so SCORE for the white glitter!!!

I popped this on a sheet of foam and then mounted it to this really cool silver glitter card I picked up in a 3 pack at the dollar store.  I love this glitter card so grab it whenever I see it in stock 🙂   it comes in 11×14 sheets  of gold, green and silver  and is fab for oversized cards and  a bit of glam.

This is my latest project from Cute As A Button….  this is one of the November New Release images which you can find in the Cute As A Button store.

Be sure to drop by the Blog and Facebook pages too and see what the rest of girls have been up to with their DT projects.  While you are there check out the Blog and Facebook challenges, we’d love to see your projects too.caab_nov_nr_wmdOf course, as always colored with Chameleon Pens and Zig Kurecolor

Bugaboo “Autumn Kidz” Velvet over the edge card

Some of you caught a WIP look at this on Facebook, but here she is.. all finished up and matted, popped on foam and overhanging the stitched frame.

She’s colored with Chameleon Pens and a touch of Zig Kurecolor and Marvy Detailer. sections of the image were cut in to overlap the frame while the main image remained behind the frame.  I am sure it has some fancy technical name, but heck if I know what to call it haha…I just know it’s cool. A couple of the smaller detached details were fussy cut and added to the frame where they should be in the original.

Both layers are foam padded for depth and the image is printed on Velvet Paper…. combined it gives the  card a lush soft feel.

Links and supplies listed below for anyone interested.

First off a close up through my Magnifier light to show off that lush velvet texture. Traditional blending styles will not work with this…. so if you are the type who has to blend to perfection, this is not the paper for you.  It works great with pencils too, but it does have a soft grainy effect look to it….so it may not suite everyone.  Me….I LOVE this paper… it suits my style and tastes perfectly.

bugaboo_velvet_autumn_wmd

..and here is the finished card, Very CAS ( clean and simple ). I don’t like to add sentiments to cards till I plan to use them; unless I already know who the recipient is, or the occasion. Quite often I just want to  use it as a note card, so I  keep them sentiment free.  I’m sure you have probably noticed that I am not a big fan of making overly fussy cards either and prefer to highlight the image and  in some cases humorous text.  It’s just my style….

bugaboo_autumn_card_wmd..anywho .. there she is… my Autumn Kidz.  I love these muted colors which is funny because hubby and I have argued color schemes and furniture since the day he moved in.  He is all about the browns… and I am all about the black furniture lol.

He must be rubbing off on me  LOL

Lil’Inkers dual stitch frame

Something I never mention, my scissors.  LOL I confess I do not own any “craft” scissors except the little pair that came with my Cricut tool kit.  I actually do most of my intricate cutting with.. erm.. hair dressers scissors lol.

I have an old pair of Triumph Mastercolor scissors from back in my UK days… these must be at least 20 years old and have NEVER ever been sharpened lol.  LOVE these scissors.  I have another set I use too… but I’d have to dig them out to figure out what they are lol.

Roses Frame and Gina Marie Designs Sympathy Die

Here’s another CraftsUPrint and Gina Marie Designs combo card….

The roses frame is part of a 4 pack cut file set by Tina Fitch again… can you tell I am really enjoying this designers cut files lately  🙂

cup_sympathy_wmded

Nothing major in the way of supplies… just 110lb white card stock, a sheet of pink 65 lb Recollections card and some purple Darice Adhesive foam.  Zig 2 way glue, Zig Photo tape, a Martha Stewart corner punch and  of course the Gina Marie Sympathy Die and CraftsUPrint cut file. I threw it on my Cricut Explore and left it cutting while I did other things… came back.. popped it off  the cutting mat and glued on my layers.
