Humorous Christmas Card ..getting ready for 2017

This is a Bugaboo Stamps Friday Freebie, if you didn’t grab it..you still have a few days left to get it before the new Freebie comes out.  It’s called “Winter Penguin Trio”  I am still playing with Christmas images… nothing like getting a head start on next 2017 cards lol.

I knocked up a super quick and simple card. It’s just a single fold on an 8.5×11 sheet of Black card, the image was printed on Canson mixed Media and colored with Chameleon pens. I added the inside sentiment to the bottom of the photo, just so you get the intended humor.  The image is foam popped on a sheet of Darice foam and the sentiment is a die cut from a Momenta die I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby last week.  I cut it on black card then rewrote the sentiment with a Zig Chalk Pen.  Tore up the edges and sponged on a blue ink edging.bug_penguin_trio

Supplies:

Recollections 65lb card -Black
Canson Mixed Media Paper 7×10
Chameleon Pens
Zig Chalk Marker Dual tip – white
Momenta “Believe” die – Hobby Lobby clearance
Craftsmart Dye Ink Pad  –  Light Blue
Darice Adhesive foam sheet
Zig Photo Tape

Sarcastic Birthday Card for the over 21’s

The minute I saw this image I knew I had to have it….she is perfect for my sense of humor. This is my, rather late DT Project for this months Crafty Awesomeness Challenge. I can finally get access to my craft carts  now the ceilings and carpets are in.

This is Bianca Doll Stamp, one of a bunch of really cool images by KaraDollStudio on Etsy.  I printed her on Canson Mixed Media  paper, colored with Chameleon Pens and then I scanned it into my software and added the sentiment and border. I then reprinted the colored version on the same Mixed Media Paper. I took a wet brush to add in some subtle shadow in the same way I did in previous projects using only the printer ink.

The main image is popped on foam and the background  is made up of a lacy cut from Gina Marie Designs using the Lacy Lattice.

Full details of materials used below 🙂

Oversized East Wind Humorous Birthday Card…

I went trolling through Etsy’s Digi Artists the other night in search of something “new” and different.  I needed to get back to my roots a bit and stray off the “cutesie” path for a bit. AND….I came across a couple of Artists, one of which I had heard of, but never colored…..and one I hadn’t heard of. Both of which had Images that instantly appealed to me, so I grabbed one from each to see if they worked with my grungier style… Here is the East Wind image “Aurora Warrior”.

What can I say… I am a bit of a tomboy and have always loved the “tank girl” tom boy thing.  You don’t have to be a Barbie, to be Sexah!
ew_oldage_wmded
This is an oversized card… I love making these 6 x12 inch cards..so much room to play and perfect for those  employee Birthdays where half the office have to sign it.  Anywho, there she is in all her glory.

I colored  the image with Chameleon Pens, Zig Kurecolor, Ranger Distress Pens and a touch of Marvy Detailer…. on a sheet of Canson Mix Media.

She is bordered with a dual stitched rectangular frame by Lil’Inkers on Recollections black card and the image was partially fussy cut to bring elements up and over the frame.  The main image lays behind the frame.  I love doing these up and overs..<< None technical term.  I must do a quick tutorial showing how I do them one day.

The green striped paper is one I made in PSP and printed out on a white 110lb card stock and added a thin black frame for contrast.

The sentiment is one straight from my own warped mind and inspired by the image. As regular visitors know, I like to have fun with my cards. The letters are cut on 110lb white card using a Bottle Cap Alphabet Die by MFT ( My Favorite Things) on my Sizzix Bigshot.

..AND NOW….

I want to give a big shout out to fellow card maker and blogger Shannon Abblitt  who has constantly amazed and inspired me with her fabulous cards… and who exposed me to so many Cool East Wind images, that I just had to give them a try.  Thanks Shannon 🙂

Super Quick Birthday Card – Scrapper’s Delights Draco

Sometimes you just need a super quick, but fun card. Scrapper’s Delights Draco is one of those images that you can use for a variety of fun messages. He has this expression that just lends itself to sarcastic retorts…. or maybe that is just my warped mind. What I love about this collection is the pre-shading make him a super quick color …IF you want him to be.

This one is a super quick, 4 color pencil card… and my home made alcohol blender pen. No need to be delicate with this.. so if your coloring isn’t fabulous.. or you haven’t even started yet. This is something you can easily do and get results with, it doesn’t call for perfection at all with this technique.

Color in roughly and blend it to death.. there are no lines that have to be stayed in.. you can blend right out of them if you want to… yeah fab project for kids lol.

I just added the sentiment and borders… printed him and slapped some color on…. blended …. inked edges …. foam mounted him onto a card with some Zig Photo Tape. VOILA !!!

Picking out a font probably took longer than coloring and assembling this card LOL.
So here he is .. this is Draco 1 from Scrappers Delights …scrappers_fossil_spotlight_wmd
