Well there was a bit of everything in today’s crafty fun… Magnets, resin, Velvet paper, stickers, cut files, glue, enamel dots…and some window cling. Not too bad for someone who hasn’t crafted for a while lol.
I was having fun with some new CUP files. These cut files make great backgrounds and stencils for allsorts of projects.
Lizzie Mayne’s Gears & Cogs Frame Card …starting off with Captain Locke by KennyK, she’s a digital coloring I did a while back printed and mounted on silver foil paper and then a Cohas Magnetic Sheet cut on the Cricut. I only used the front portion of the card file… but this comes in square and rectangle as full card files.
Lizzie Mayne – Cornish Grid 3. I had a lot of fun with this Black on Black project..Cohas Magnet Sheet, Black SEI Velvet paper, Black glitter resin Skull and some Black Gina Marie Designs enamel dots. Nothing like mixing it up a lil’ haha.. but a pain in the hoo ha to photograph an all black project with various finishes haha
Lizzie Mayne – Dhalia Flower Mat Layer Stencil. This one was fun..I cut just one of the 3 layers in this cut file using that fab velvet paper. Mounted it on card, then colored it with Zig Clean Color pens and a touch of Chameleon Pens. I cut that out and sliced it in half …stuck it on this plain black envelope and then stamped some fun typewriter and text stamps in a faded white ink.
Just a fun way to decorate envelopes if you are sending a hand written letter, or just need an envelope and don’t want to be bo-ring!
Lizzie Mayne – Brick Wave Matt Layer Stencil. Such a fun card to make.. it’s the perfect kinda project to do with the kids, or grandkids High contrast, super fast, super easy… cut file, some glue, envelope and a card and some fun stickers… and voila.. one High contrast cute card ready to go. Makes a fun card for any occasion.
Judith Henry- Lattice Hearts Embellishments. I cut this heart in Cricut Window vinyl and will be putting it on my new car… this is just one of the hearts included in the cut file. I love how well this vinyl cuts on intricate designs and fine lines.

I got my latest set of dies from this morning.. the slow boat from China .. is getting much quicker LOL
I recently discovered from a friend who is a die Designer that some of the Cheap dies are rip offs of other die designers products, so I try to be really careful with what I buy and so far I don’t seem to have picked up any of her designs… but she has found them for sale other places and I can imagine these designers are losing a lot of money… so if it doubt.. support your favorite designers. A few extra pennies to keep these fab designs flowing our way.. totally worth it.
We all love cheap craft supplies, but I wouldn’t intentionally buy a knock off .. that is just wrong to me and we need to support these designers and manufacturers who bring us such fab goodies.
anywho.. here is my latest haul. I don’t have a huge amount of dies so try and fill in with some cheapies when I see things I like and will use frequently… and of course who can resist a few sentiments and holiday designs? These new gears and clock face will be perfect with my KennyK Stamps steampunk projects

LOVED making this…. Another one of the fab cut files I picked up with my winnings over at CUP the other week.. well actually, technically it’s two lol. I swiped elements of another steampunk card by the same designer and added them in to this project showcasing her clock design. You’ll get to see that one and more details later this week.
I am not totally sure if this will end up as an album cover or if it may end up in a shadow box frame… we shall see. Details and supplies are below the image.
The page is a 12×12 sheet from a Neutral Solid color pad by Craft Smith. I inked up the background using the larger cog cut out and a Craft Smart Dye ink pad.. very quick and haphazard..it’s intentionally patchy for the overall effect…. so a very easy technique for steampunk backgrounds.
Another quick oversized card… this one is featuring Scarlett West by KennyK. I already had this image that I had digitally colored last year sitting on my computer..so I just took her and colorized her to give a monotone sepia look, added in the text and then printed her on some Printable Canvas paper I have had for YEARS ! This particular one has sheen to it, but not all canvas papers do. I just rough inked up the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink pads and a little brushwork. Goes without saying.. she is foam mounted with Darice fun foam too too 🙂
I cut the cogs/gears on my Big Shot and colored them first with a dry brushed layer of distress inks, then went over them with some metallic gellatos to give them a metallic shine.
The background is a scored and folded 12×12 sheet from a Craft Smith pad “Neutrals” to produce a 6×12 card, then it was stamped with various vintage inspired stamps in black Ranger Archive ink. Edges were smudged up with a dry brush and Archive ink.
I also printed Scarlett on some Shrinky Dink today….. but that is a whole nother project 🙂
What a fab new release we have at Scrapper’s Delights and a fun blog hop full of really cool projects. I am so looking forward to playing with these. This is my DT piece for the blog hop. I wanted to try something a bit different from my regular “Steampunk” with these. I found this fabulous quote ….unfortunately it didn’t have a name on it, so I can’t credit the author.
But I love this quote …. I am 46, still chasing my dreams… and you bet I am still wearing my heels lol.
It’s a standing joke with my Oby because I wore my 4 inch heels till the day I gave birth to my son. I think I was the happiest pregnant woman that office ever saw lol.
Every time I have an appointment with my Oby, he comes in to the examining room and the first thing he looks for is my shoes/boots. If he cant see them he shakes his head and tells me he is disappointed in me.. till I produce “them heels” lol.
Well what did you expect.. that I would have a normal Oby? This is the guy who started singing Rhinestone cowboy as I delivered….just as he had promised. Yup, my favorite crazy Asian Oby Dr singing Rhinestone Cowboy. If you have ever seen the movie Air Am, you will probably know why that was funny…. you kind a had to be there LOL.
I’ve been wearing boots like these since I was about 16 and in my Goth /Biker days. Ah fun, fun times !! lol That is what I love about images like these….memories….and personalization. So many 80’s kiddies in here…. come on, I know some of you wore these boots and rocked out to all the hair bands too lol.
Ok ok enough wandering down memory lane…. But, are you humming Bon Jovi Living on a prayer yet? lol…
Bling is a mix of big brad stars from a Recollections brad pack and some small stars from the new Rhinestone bling I picked up on Amazon that arrived last week.
Sentiment was done in Paint Shop Pro and then foam padded with Darice adhesive foam and Zig Photo Tape ( review here .. LOVE this new tape runner, specially for foam ) and a slap dab of glitter round the edge.
Card base was from a Recollections card & envelope set.
Image and sentiment printed on 110lb Georgia Pacific Index Card
Happy Hoppin’… and don’t forget to use your coupon while shoppin!!!!!

Recently my lil guy who just turned 4 in March, got to go on his first visit to our local firehouse. We drive by it almost every day as it’s literally at the end of our street. The guys at the Firehouse were fantastic with him.. he got to sit in the engine, use the headset, check out all the gear and got a history lesson on the Fire Dept. Mommy learnt a few things too… like why we don’t have fire poles in most of our local stations anymore LOL ….and why they were put there in the first place. And of course…. the story of how Dalmations came to be the fire dept mascots 🙂
He got to take pics with some of the guys, and they gave him a helmet, stickers and coloring books etc that they keep on hand for the kids who visit.
He was so excited and had a blast… so this is a thank you card for the guys at our local station. They got a real kick when they found out that his Great Grandma sent him a fireman dress up jacket last year…. They kept telling us he was gonna be a fireman, instead of an LEO like his Grandpa. I’m good with that.. he can be anything he wants … as long as he enjoys it and it makes him happy ..and it’s legal.. of course LOL 🙂
Here is my card:
Red Card – Craft Smart Red 12×12 Pad
PawPrint Paper – Recollections Paw Prints from Michaels
Thank you – Recollections Yellow Card Stock, unknown Die
Image was foam padded with a red Darice fun foam adhesive sheet from Walmart
Just another quickie Birthday card…. this is perfect for some of my older biker buddies. I Couldn’t resist the oily fingerprints 🙂 I think I will enter this one in the make it crafty blog challenge too .. see bottom of the post for details.. only a few days left to enter 🙂
This one has a ghosted background. Black on a VERY deep gray recollections card. I used two stamps… a route 66 and a tire tread from Tim Holtz “Getting There”set
Gears are die cut on a light gray card then clear embossed.

“Welcome to our eleventh Clean & Simple Challenge! The idea behind these challenges is to keep your cards simple, elegant and have one focal point, removing all the clutter. To achieve this, concentrate on nice clean lines, positioning your elements straight, keeping matted frames even around the edge, allowing for ‘white space’ to draw the eyes towards the main focus.”
I’d been having a problem with uneven pressure on my Big Shot, read a few googled posts about damaged bearings and replacing them being the fix.. So I contacted them about it.
In less than an hour I had a response to my support ticket, a phone call.. which went to voicemail…I don’t answer unknown calls and wasn’t expecting a call from them LOL. I responded to the email ticket and literally within minutes had another call..which I answered since I now knew it was them.
During the call I mentioned that my handle had always been loose … now I am really glad I never glued that screw in now I have to replace parts LOL ..and that I had opened it up to check the bearings and that I noticed the crank handle cog had a tooth that had broken off.
The Customer Support lady was awesome…. she had me fixed up with a replacement parts requisition and instructions for all of it in no time. She even checked to make sure I had an allen key to use when I got my new handle axel…. since I don’t currently need one to remove it, with it being so loose and all lol.
5 minutes later I got a follow up call from her to tell me they were out of one of the parts and an expected date for those….. and to beat it all.. she was going to personally check to see if she could locate some parts for me, so I didn’t have to wait for the new shipment.
Now THAT is customer service at it’s best.
I was expecting a 24- 48 turnaround time for a response, which is about the average nowadays… I know I got real lucky and caught them at a good time… but less than 2 hours to get it all sorted is fab.
Now if they could just slip in a “replacement” Big Shot Pro and have it all delivered in the same time frame we got the problem sorted…. I would be in heaven. I love my Big Shot…. can’t wait to have her up and running again.
..and I got to use one of my favorite KennyK images “Brianna Blaster”, color her using skills I am learning at Kit & Clowder and I used my new Velvet paper…. and finally got to use some of the watch pieces I picked up last year.
Tough one to photograph with a flash …. so I might try to take some more pics later this weekend when I do a detailed project post on this one.
Love this card… kept it simple so it didn’t overpower the image with bling and sentiments.
