Wahooo…… I’m BACK …with a splash !!

Well I finally got time to really sit down and actually color, admittedly it was a quickie session… but I got to color and dang but it feels good. Here is a really cool image by Cute As A Button “Bathtub Mermaid” and as if you didn’t guess already… yup I gave my new Chameleon Pens Color Tops a whirl. Add on a splash of Sakura Gelly Roll for some glitz and glam and detailing.. and voila!

I mounted her on a ply wood art tile/canvas  using double sided sheets of adhesive tape and inked up the edges with 3 tones of Color Smart Ink pads.  I’ll add a protective waterproof layer before hanging her in the bathroom.

Lil Ms Muffet sat on her…

HA !!! you know you were expecting something sarcastic…. well NOPE .. not this time lol.
SURPRISE !!!!  Ok I confess I did  think about it, but couldn’t find anything suitable… funny yes, not very PC, yes…. suitable… Nope LOL

This is my DT project for the new October Challenge on the Cute As A Button Challenge Blog…“Ms Muffett”

Printed on Recollections 65 lb card stock and colored with Chameleon Pens and Zig Kure Color and a dusting of dry brushed Craft Smart Ink.  The edges were also inked up with Craft Smart ink pads in blue and black.

The card background is stamped using a bargain bin seasonal stamp from Michaels.  I love these $1.50 stamps they bring out for each season… they are fab for my lil man and I find myself stealing them for backgrounds lol. The sentiment is a die cut.. but for the life of me I can’t think who made it, I’ll add it into a supplies list later today. The sentiment was inked with black and blue inks, then I ran over it with a light blue Sakura Glaze pen which gave it a 3D relief and  added that finishing touch.

Come join us over on the Challenge Blog this month and don’t forget their is also a Progressive Challenge on the Facebook Group too.

Scrapper’s Delights Fan Group Challenge Friday Freebie DT Project

Wow .. I’m still in shock that I got invited to join this team …. I love doing these challenges, so it was a fab surprise to find that invite in my inbox.  Thank you 🙂

So here it is .. my  first Scrappers Delights Fan Group Challenge Friday Freebie DT Project.  I have been neglecting my poor old Cricut Explore lately and getting caught up with other ideas and projects…. but I really wanted  to  use this cut file again, so here it is.  I hope you like this project, it’s really quite a simple card to make and  this cut file is so versatile. I’ve used it for a few different projects in the past… male and female.  I wanted to keep it relatively clean, so  the sentiment is behind the image, you can see it better in the second image

  • Card base is a CraftsUPrint cut file cup323867_1415 by Rae Carr.  This particular file has additional pieces that I didn’t use.  It’s cut on Dollar Store, glitter poster board card.  This was resized and cut on the Cricut Explore to make a 5×5 card.
  • Image is by Scrappers Delights and she is colored with a mix of Ranger distress pens, Zig Kurecolor and Zig Brushables from the Zig Memory System set..and a touch of Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust on the hair bands and slippers.  I also added some  blue Sakura Glaze on the hair for shine and texture.
  • Flowers are from Michaels
  • Sentiment is a die cut on blue Recollections card to match the trellis backing, cut on My Sizzix Big Shot.
  • Xyron Mega runner 1/4 inch adhesive

Sakura Glaze Pens…. wow, pretty impressed

Thanks to a tip from one of the ladies over on the Craftsuprint forum, I picked up a set of Sakura Glaze pens. I’d mentioned on there that I was still searching for the elusive clear pen for fine details. I ordered a set from Ebay as the seller offered a much better price than anyone I had seen and had free shipping.  My set cost me $9.50 and arrived this morning. Now I know I am sick, but I’m still breathing, which means I was opening those pens regardless lol.

I tested them out on a couple of scrap circles I had sitting around and I have to say, I am impressed.  The clear is a little glossy for what I wanted.. but it is definitely the closest thing I have found to what I want.  These pens come in a set of 10 , one of which is clear.. but you can buy the clear glaze pens separately too.  I just figured while I was testing it out I might as well get the full set. They have a slight raised feel to them, a little like powder embossing which is kinda neat.

When I feel better I will give them a run through my Cricut Explore and see how they perform, but if they are anything like the other Gelly Roll stardust pens I have from Sakura.. they will work a treat.

I can’t reiterate enough how much I like Sakura pens… I order my stardust pens in bulk packs..I like them THAT much lol.

This glaze set comes in a 10 pack which includes: a pinkish red, copperish orange, 2 shades of Green, 2 shades of blue, black, white, clear and a silver/gray color.
I tried the white on a piece of black card and on application it seemed very milky and clear.. so I thought I had picked up the wrong pen.  White and clear look very similar.  But once it dried it was  definitely white.

Big thumbs up for Sakura Glaze pens 🙂
