Another quickie Bookmark featuring the Unity Stamp co stamp, “First love, first hero”. Text was from an old paperback book hubby was throwing out… waste not want not lol. I stamped it up and colored it in distress marker, then inked the edges using distress ink pads. I mounted it on a piece of card, also colored in distress inks and then laminated it and punched a hole in it for a ribbon. This is joining the growing Abandoned Art project bucket for our upcoming “mission”.
I wanted to have a quick play before bed last night/this am ..I have had these stamps sitting here staring at me LOL. I had an old paperback of hubby’s sat here on my desk for a while now too. He no longer wanted it and I didn’t want to waste it..so it was a toss up between upcycling it, or finding a new home for it. I am sure it was a fabulous story… but upcycling won.
I see this as a fitting tribute to the author who will now be enjoyed by a potential 322 people if I were to use the complete book to make bookmarks for Abandonment projects. That’s a pretty good audience, even if they only get to read snippets of it. Even if I had given it away complete….I doubt it would have ever reached that many people.
I may try that idea next….. like the old Where’s George site for $ bills. I could do a “WheresJim.com” and see how far a book travels; assuming of course the book is by an author called Jim, like this one. It might be fun to do it with a kids book… hmm, idea to tuck away for when I have some spare time 🙂
I have a bunch of stuff to take care of between now and tomorrow night. A new month is coming and that means Lots of projects and new challenges to be set up and winners to be picked.

KennyK Just released some fab new images which are perfect for male cards…. and we all know how hard they can be sometimes. Check these out over at KennyK Stamps
I decided to try something a bit different and so I printed this guy out on some Canson Mix Media paper I bought to use with my Gansai Tambi watercolor paints. This is colored with Chameleon Pens and Ranger Distress Pens.
I cut a 6×6 card base on Recollections Cardstock, it’s a deep gray/barely black with texture and kinda cool.
I cut a Oval out and then did a partial cut on the image; so that the main image is behind the oval, but the beer mug is on top. The inside is lined to hide the image on the inside and to give a surface for sentiments messages etc.
Then I popped “bubbles” all over the card with a 2 inch throat punch lined the inside with yellow Recollections card and colored the bubbles through from the front.
March has been a month full of surprises…. not all good….BUT these ones absolutely, no question make up for all the bad ones and some!!
First I won some fab New Release digis over on the KennyK “Name the Hero” Contest last week (..almost the entire new release set..and yes, you bet I grabbed the rest of the collection). My submission for family name was chosen…. let me introduce you to the “Rockit’s” and a set of fab sentiments and backgrounds to accompany them. This collection features 4 backgrounds, 2 sentiment sheets and 7… yes SEVEN family characters.
One of the reasons I am so exicted about this new release is the backgrounds..I know I am a sad puppy… but I have been looking for these urban/city-scape backgrounds for ages. Not only for KennyK projects, but to mix and match with other art I use. These are AWESOME and I am so excited to see more of these fab backgrounds in the future. You can find all of these New Release digital stamps here
THEN I had some fab happy mail from KennyK 2 days earlier than expected…. yay for USPS!!
I have been coveting the KennyK clear stamps since I first saw these… but most of my KennyK collection is digital. I had one clear stamp I won last year, so now I have another 3 new ones to add to my collection and I don’t have these in digital format YET. And of course the added temporary tattoo and sticker that came with them will be loved by the lil man 🙂 I love these retro ladies… and everyone knows I love the Goth and Steampunk girls lol. Can’t wait to have some fun with these girls in some new projects this month 🙂
Just to be different…. from right to Left:
The lil guys birthday is this coming week ..and the K’s lil man Sean is also turning 4 this month. Elena and I have chatted about the boys over the last year since we discovered they were born around the same time. To top off my KennyK fabtastic week ….my happy mail also arrived with two awesome KennyK illustrated Lego Magazines for the little man. He will absolutely love these, totally wasn’t expecting this.. THANK YOU sooo much.
I can’t believe he got his very own KennyK illustrated Magazines…and LEGO ones at that. He loves Lego. Some of you may or may not know that KennyK does a lot of commercial art projects on some HUGE .. and if you have little boys… I mean HUGELY popular brands. Next time you are in the toy aisle… you could be picking up some KennyK artwork and not even know it.
On an end note ….just because I am a happy little clam right now.
One of the things I love about my crafting; soppy as it sounds, but it is entirely sincere I promise. I love the fact that my crafting, blog and message board have led to meeting some fantastic people, artists, manufacturers, vendors and crafters alike. It’s like having one fantastically crazy family, only a key touch away.
I won’t name you all …. but if you read my blog, Facebook, Google+ etc… you already know who you are 🙂 The fact that I will happily chat for hours, blog about your work, projects, products etc. and hang out with you… with no incentives, or personal gain… should tell you how much ya’all mean to me. That’s not to say I don’t get the occasional surprise gift, products to review etc. for the blog… because it’s very clear on all my affiliate linked and review pages that I do LOL… but the majority of my posts are just done because I love what I see and the people I hang out with…and I want to share it.
Coming from a web background I know the importance of word of mouth and link sharing.. and I am thrilled to be able to do my small part in sharing the love to all you fab guys and gals that give us crafters all the fab products, services, tutorials and project ideas that keep us happy ….and broke, or maybe that is just my kid and his crazy craft and toy collection LOL.
KennyK “collectively” Thanks for Rocking my Crafts and for being an awesome couple of peeps …. and for having a fab group of crazy DT’s .. and crafting family …..you girls are the best 🙂
