UnityStamps Laminated Bookmark “First love, First Hero”

Another quickie Bookmark featuring the Unity Stamp co stamp, “First love, first hero”.  Text was from an old paperback book hubby was throwing out… waste not want not lol. I stamped it up and colored it in distress marker, then inked the edges using distress ink pads. I mounted it on a piece of card, also colored in distress inks and then laminated it and punched a hole in it for a ribbon.   This is joining the growing Abandoned Art project bucket for our upcoming “mission”.

Guest Designer – Lil’ Man D ( 4yrs old ) laminated bookmarks

We had to go get new tires the other day and my lil guy.. much as he loves the dealership and checking out all of the cars and trucks..specially the trucks ( he is just like his daddy when it comes to trucks lol ) .. he gets bored after a while.  So this time I decided to take along my portable easel box I showed you in a previous post earlier this week and watercolors  in case they came in handy… plus it was a great way to test it out and see how well it worked out.

They have a seating area with comfy chairs, but also a large eating area with vending machines and coffee etc and part of that is a long bar area with bar stools…and lots of natural light from the big windows.  So we sat down  with some snacks and drinks and I started to color.. lol.. 2 seconds later as predicted “I want to color please mommy”

So here we go, these are 4 of the bookmarks he painted while we were waiting for our new tires.  I had already stamped everything out  on precut  strips of Canson Mix Media Paper and they were in the easel box ready to go with the H2o pen.  The easel box and the Gansai Tambi box are about the same size so easy to grab and go even without a bag.
I love this first Giraffe because he told me he was painting a rainbow on it too ..  I love his imagination, but I am sure glad he explains what some of it is sometimes haha.  Some of these will go to friends and relatives and others will go in the Abandoned Art box.  The Giraffe is a stamp we picked up at Michaels last month.  The father and daughter image is a Unity Stamp co stamp  that I stamped up for me to color, but he hijacked it haha

The finished pieces were mounted on some plain Recollections 65lb card stock and then laminated and a hole punched for them.  A little bit of ribbon and some beads and they will be all ready to go 🙂

This portable easel with storage is great .. he loved it so much he asked for one of his own so he could bring his pens along next time too.  These boxes are small enough and light enough for a kid to easily carry around and if required .. you could easy pop on a carry handle or strap. Once his is finished,  he will be able to decorate it as he wishes. He loves to paint wooden blanks and boxes,  so I know whatever it is…. it will be UNIQUE  haha

Unity Stamp co. bookmarks for the Abandoned Art Bucket

I wanted to have a quick play before bed last night/this am ..I have had these stamps sitting here staring at me LOL. I had an old paperback of hubby’s sat here on my desk for a while now too. He no longer wanted it and I didn’t want to waste it..so it was a toss up between upcycling it, or finding a new home for it. I am sure it was a fabulous story… but upcycling won.

I see this as a fitting tribute to the author who will now be enjoyed by a potential 322 people if I were to  use the complete book to make bookmarks for Abandonment projects. That’s a pretty good audience, even if they only get to read snippets of it.  Even if I had given it away complete….I doubt it would have ever reached that many people.

I may try that idea next….. like the old Where’s George site for $ bills. I could do a “WheresJim.com” and see how far a book travels; assuming of course the book is by an author called Jim, like this one.  It might be fun to do it with a kids book… hmm, idea to tuck away for when I have some spare time  🙂

I have a bunch of stuff to take care of between now and tomorrow night. A new month is coming and that means Lots of projects and new challenges to be set up and winners to be picked.

Laminated Bugaboo Bunny tags & matted art

Here’s the first of my projects  for the Bugaboo Crafty Challenge No.2 .. featuring Easter Bunny Line  by Bugaboo stamps.

I printed out & colored up my image on a sheet of Canson Mixed media. The original image I framed in a sage green photo mat that I managed to score in a local Walmart clearance section.  I picked up a bunch of  double mats and they will be great for abandoned Art projects. So here is the original hand colored image.

But.. before I matted it, I scanned and resized the image…added pin stripe borders and a “Happy Easter” border and printed and laminated these cute little Easter tags.

Thank you for visiting, I really hope we get to see some of your own Bugaboo Projects in the current challenge.

Laminated Bookmark for Abandonment

We ran out to the store last night to pick up a few things for the little guy and right next to it is a Panera Bread. We’ve never been in one before; but Grandma gave hubby some Gift cards at Christmas, so we figured we would give it a  try. The Broccoli Cheddar  soup was awesome, sandwiches were great … hubby loved the Cinnamon Rolls and lil man gave the Fudge Brownie a BIG thumbs up.

It kind of reminded me of the restaurants and coffee shops we would frequent back in Silicon Valley….very relaxed and a place people come to hang out, read, chat and do homework. So, that inspired this next project…I am going to abandon some pieces here next time we go as part of our Abandoned Art missions.

Here is my January Inspiration for the Cute As A button Inspiration Show case, featuring “IMG00284 Nothing Like A Good Book”  I used my own Sentiment for this project.

She is colored with Chameleon Pens, I added the black digital borders before printing her out. I added a blue panel behind  and then ran it through my laminator and trimmed it up. I punched  a hole and threaded some cute ribbon through it.  Very quick project  for the book lovers.

If you don’t have a laminator, they also sell self sealing laminating pouches.

Laugh till you pee!

I absolutely loved this image, so when we got the opportunity to work on Bloobel Stamps for the Crafty Awesomeness Challenge this month… it was no brainer. For someone like me who has a “quirky” strange sense of humor, this image has so many possibilities to create unique and fun sentiments  for cards or other projects.

I’m not a huge fan of overly fussy cards, for myself …. it’s just not something that comes naturally to me.  I love seeing the work other people do, but it’s not something that I can really translate over well in my own work as a  general rule.  I  tend to  get my inspirations from the images I use and let them dictate the direction I go in. And since my sentiments are usually inspired by the images….I like to keep the projects pretty CAS so the image and humor are the main focus.

I’m also not a die hard card maker, so I love to play around making magnets and framed art and  notebook covers etc… things that tend to have a  longer shelf life and won’t get shoved in a drawer at best….and the trash at worst  LOL.

I also recently got involved in something called Abandoned Art which is a lot of fun and non card projects are great for that too.  I would image this one, or at least a copy of this one will find itself into my AA bucket to  be enjoyed by some random person at some stage this year.  I confess I really like how this one  came out and I am not sure I want to give away my original  lol.  I think she will end up hanging in my new craft room when  we move later this year.bloobel_giggles_framed_wmd

She was printed on 110lb Georgia Pacific, I am a bit of a rebel, I don’t  buy  marker specialty paper.  This and the Neenah 110lb suits my style and my needs for most  coloring projects… when I want specialty paper, it’s more likely to be canvas paper, inkjet watercolor paper, printable polysilk, or velvet paper….  occasionally shrinky dink..or a bed sheet… yes I did say bed sheet and yes I have printed on it LOL.

She’s colored with a mix of  Chameleon pens, Zig Kurecolor and The Tim Holtz Ranger distress pens  and the sentiment is straight from my own  warped mind and was added to the digi before printing.

If I keep her she will be matted and mounted in a simple black frame… if I abandon her for someone else to find… she will most likely be framed… or  made into a notebook cover.  I guess we shall find out   🙂

She could quite easily  be a card front… but I’m just not feeling it for this project.   She deserves to be seen and enjoyed for more than 5 minutes:)

FOOT NOTE :

and she did indeed.. become a notepad  LOL…

I scanned the original and reprinted her on canvas paper, laminated it and then added in pages with random little fun stamps on some of the corners… the back page was elongated to include the inspirational ” Live Love Laugh Stamp ”  and she is indeed going in my Abandoned Art Bucket… along with the other copy I printed on Canvas… who will probably become a magnet  🙂
