I just got a new batch of shaker windows in.. new shapes and sizes. This time I have 3″ Square, 2.5″ round and some 2×3′ rectangles to add to the 3″ circles I already have. I haven’t had a chance to bust them open and make any projects yet…. but expect to see some later this month. These are all 1/4 ” high as usual, so lots of room if you want to try out the fun shaker card games I make.
In the meantime…. leave a comment below telling me what new craft goodies you just got, or what you would make with these….and I’ll pick a random person and send you a mixed pack to play with. And since I am feeling very nice and relaxed after my much needed mini-vacation… I won’t even restrict it to US only entries this time.
It’s new release time at Cute As A Button again…. and this month my DT project is a super simple card for the boys. I colored this one up with my Chameleon markers and die cut it with one of my new Gina Marie Designs dies, ” Loopy Rectangles” …and then attached it to one of the colored A2 size cards that I have from my value packs form Michaels. I love these cards, they come in so many great colors and designs and if you catch the sales you can pick them up at $5 a pack… great deal for 80 cards and envelopes.

I exploded Easter with this fun card filled with Gina Marie Designs die cuts. I have a bunch of new dies sitting on my desk ..along with a gazillion other things I haven’t even had a chance to pull out of their packaging and I decided I was going to get stuck in this week. I had no idea till I started just how well the dies I had were all going to pull together. If you are a regular Gina Marie Designs addict, you will most likely recognize most, if not all of these dies.. but for those of you who don’t, there is a list of supplies at the bottom of the post 🙂
Plenty of room for a sentiment if/ when needed too… just a fun, die crazy card… if you added a banner cut sentiment… that would make at least 7 GMD’s .. or a sentiment die too like the Happy Easter ..or 8 if you had the stitched sun from the stitched skies set.. which I don’t have YET !
The lil guy is getting in more craft projects than I am this past week lol… here is a card I helped him put together for his grandparents who sent him a card and Toys R Us gift certificate for his 5th birthday, which is on Thursday.
Can you tell he likes Giraffes? This time he painted up 4 giraffes and then chose the one he wanted to send to them. We will make up some more cards with the others. We added in one of the new frames that I have been experimenting with using the Gina Marie Designs Dies in a previous post Sneaky Peek.. You’ve been Framed !
The minute I saw this image I knew I had to have it….she is perfect for my sense of humor. This is my, rather late DT Project for this months Crafty Awesomeness Challenge. I can finally get access to my craft carts now the ceilings and carpets are in.
This is Bianca Doll Stamp, one of a bunch of really cool images by KaraDollStudio on Etsy. I printed her on Canson Mixed Media paper, colored with Chameleon Pens and then I scanned it into my software and added the sentiment and border. I then reprinted the colored version on the same Mixed Media Paper. I took a wet brush to add in some subtle shadow in the same way I did in previous projects using only the printer ink.
The main image is popped on foam and the background is made up of a lacy cut from Gina Marie Designs using the Lacy Lattice.
Glues and tapes:
Zig 2way glue
Kuretake Photo Tape
Commercial grade double sided adhesive tape **I was given this to try out because I was looking for something to work on my Darice foam… LOVE IT ! All of the glue and tapes used in this project came from CraftingAbility.com

Well as some of you already know… I picked up some new Gina Marie Dies this weekend. So, after showing you how easy the Lacey Lattice really is to clean with the Crafter’s Toothbrush, I thought I would show you a couple of quick cards.
The card on the left features dies from 4 Gina Marie Designs sets and the one on the right features 2 of the same die sets. Details below for anyone interested.
The card on the left also has a large flower which is cut on the Cricut from a CraftsUPrint cut file I picked up recently, with a beaded center and hand colored leaves … and a little rhinestone bling bling for the petite flower centers. The Lacey Lattice was also given a coat of Ranger Distress Ink “Picket Fence” and some Wink of Stella for a subtle vintage look. the small flowers also have a lick of Wink of Stella.
The card on the left features a lacy lattice cut as a nested die set…and the one on the right was cut using the dies separately and a black layer was used for a subtle contrast and to tie it into the black butterfly and offset text. I didn’t realize I had glued the text on a bit wonky till I took the photo.. DOH… practice makes perfect ..right LOL. The one on the right has a Darice polka dot strip border, which was highlighted with some pink rhinestones.
All in all a quick and easy card to make , specially if you like to use dies like these to combat the scrap bucket issue….and already have a stash cut and ready to go.
I had to laugh when I showed a friend a sneaky peek and got this response…
“Is this SAMANTHA??????? The one I have known for over a year now! LOL”
“They are gorgeous but they are different for you. I am lovin that softer side of you ha ha ha”
I just got a fab new Gina Marie Die today, well two actually and a few more on the way lol…. but that is a whole nother blog post. Today I want to introduce you to this one particular die. Ok, so what has that got to do with Crafter’s Toothbrushes I hear you mumble… and what the hell is a “Crafter’s Toothbrush” anyway!! something crazy, new and expensive that I just have to add to my craftroom??
Never fear….we shall get there…. be patient grasshoppers. This is more for the new crafter’s, but may be useful to some seasoned veterans who haven’t already discovered it.
I have to admit I did get a good giggle from the description… not only do I love Gina’s Designs and her prices are fabulous… but she’s honest to a fault lol.
“PLEASE NOTE! The inner lattice panel is VERY tiny and petite. That means you could need to shim or use a precision plate and that there will be LOTS of little pieces. I like to be honest about my products. It is a beautiful set and cuts great you just need to have knowledge to make it work best with your machine.”
Now we all have those dies that have the most gorgeous designs, but take forever to weed out the offcuts… well you might…. LOL .. NOT ME haha.
I have the almighty Crafters Toothbrush.
Ok enough messing around… a quickie video to show you all how quick and easy it is to clean up these gorgeous intricate cuts. My regular Sizzix cutting plates are shall we say a tad worn and as warped as I am….so you wouldn’t really see much, so I skipped right to the clean up.
I ran my new dies through my Big shot on said old and warped plates… no shims needed, using 110lb card stock. I popped them out of the Big Shot, now pay attention… this really helps.. DO NOT pop them out of the dies. If they pop out anyway.. not a huge deal.. but it’s quicker if you keep them in the dies. Specially if you didn’t get a good, clean all over pressure cut the first time round.
Flip that baby over die side up and here comes the Crafters Toothbrush … old, new, electronic, Colgate, mickey mouse .. who cares… grab a toothbrush and brush the back side of your dies…and watch those tiny pieces pop right out.
(no audio needed unless you have a toothbrush fetish ..I recorded this last night while everyone was in bed ..so no voice overs)
If you have a few reluctant ones… you can used the brush in an up and down motion to pop them out. For those overly reluctant ones that didn’t get enough pressure, I find a quick re-run through my Big Shot will fix that right up… then flip and continue with your tooth brush.
When all of your weeding is done… pop the cut out of the die and there you go.. one clean die cut lacy piece.. nice n easy 🙂
Always keep a toothbrush in your tool box…. 🙂
New Projects coming over the weekend with the new Gina Marie Designs dies that just arrived in the mail 🙂
In a nutshell …..its a soft and girlie card, with lots of cool vellum on it….and some cool dies by Gina Marie Designs and Lil’Inkers and a cool cut file from CraftsUPrint Designer Tina Fallon a bit of Gelly Roll Stardust and rhinestone bling and a swipe of Chameleon pens… I’ll add links below for anyone interested in specifics. This particular file was cut on my Cricut, but it is available in various formats for different Machines.
For those of you who are regulars here.. DON’T PANIC!!!! I am also working on a really cool black and red gothic type verison of this ..I was not abducted lol.
I was playing around with my magnetic sheet from CraftingAbility again… this one was die cut using a dual stitched set. Only the frame is magnetic, keeping it lightweight and economical. I used the center portion on another project which I posted a few days ago. You may have read about the possibility of grab bags coming available… and this would be perfect for these kind of projects.
She may end up being another “abandoned art” project… we shall see 🙂
I loved this project…. not just because I like the card I made, but for the lasting memories associated with it. My son; who just turned 4, is notorious for photobombing my projects when I am trying to photograph them for the blog. If it’s not his face suddenly appearing in front of the lens… it’s one of his toys. Last time I think I shared one of these, I think my project was photobombed by a transformer by the name of “Grimlock”.
This time I literally got photobombed… by Bomb.. the black bird from the Angry Bird toys currently in happy meals at Macdonalds.
ok and now that he is a happy camper and his toy is now duly admired and photographed like a star…. let’s get to the project. This is my DT card for Scrapper’s Delights featuring the new Friday Freebie Challenge image Honey Ruler .
Oh and before I forget….If you missed it, you can find the Scrapper’s Delights “Spotlight Series” post right here. It’s a fun Q&A session with some fab artists/ designers and small craft business owners. It runs the entire month of June and ends with an End of Series Giveaway… so be sure to subscribe, or follow my page on Facebook for updates.
I stamped my card base (which I believe was from a Recollections set) with a clear stamp and black archive ink, then ran a swipe of Clear Wink of Stella over some of the flowers. Very subtle, but looks cool when it catches the light
Image is printed on Canson Mix Media, on an Epson Eco Tank
Colored with a mix of Chameleon, Zig Kurecolor & Tim Holtz Ranger Distress pens and the shading is a pencil and alcohol blender combo.
Text was given a shadow effect using a home-made blender pen over the printed ink
Stitched Die edging is from the dual stitched rectangle set by Lil ‘Inkers
