Christmas card with Black Velvet Poinsettia panel

I love how this one turned out …   this is another one of my CraftsUPrint cut files  from a recent purchase.

I used the single panel for this design and cut it from SEI Black Velvet Paper. I adhered it to a sheet of Canson Mix Media and colored the panel with Zig Clean Color markers I trimmed it to size and inked the edges. I made a 5.5×8.5 card base with 110lb card stock with a black boho cut layer and a red and white polka dot layer and popped the image topper on that. I added a corner die cut by My Little Paper World.

What I love about this design is that the negative left after the main cut on my Cricut Explore is equally stunning and would be perfect for another project, or to make a matching envelope. I hate wasting paper.. but specially this Velvet lol..so it’s fabulous for this type of project..

Quickie card – I heart you

I have some new CraftsUPrint cutfiles, a tonne of new stamps and dies and … oh dear.. it’s been a busy month… for shopping haha.  I have a huge basket of goodies to  play with … and not enough time to play with them all.. but I am sure gonna try..and my son seems to have been bit with the crafty bug bad this month..so I shall be in good company.

So going to start off our mega marathon of craftiness with a quickie card featuring a super quick and cute cut file and a Satuarate Canary stamp I picked up in my first.. yes I said first batch of stamps I grabbed from LDRS Creative this past week (see previous post).  I loved the ones I got so much…I went back for more.   At $1 a pop on clearance, there is no way I wasn’t taking good advantage of this sale …. the stamps are fabulous. I found some long searched for scenic stamps which I can’t wait to play with.  This was my first time shopping with LDRS and I have to say I am impressed.

Ok so here she is.. this is Alice, supplies list is super simple and listed below.

Card base is 110lb Georgia Pacific card and was cut on the Cricut Explore using a CraftsUPrint cut file by Apetroae Stefan  called OVER THE EDGE HEART BORDER CARD

Insert is Black Recollections Value pack 65lb card, contrasts great through the cut outs
Black layer is also Black 65lb Recollections card
Image was stamped on Canson Mix Media using black Stazon Ink and colored with Chameleon Pens

… both layers were given a shabby cut, I have an old cutter that  does this to the paper/card if you only cut one layer and I love it, because I suck at paper tearing/ripping  but like the shabby edge look for some projects…so this is my compromise.

I used Zig Photo Tape runner adhesive to attach my layers.

Vintage monotone “Shabby Card” with fancy edge

I’d been wanting to  use this image for a while now, but was waiting for the right project to fall in to place.  It’s one of the older Scrapper’s Delights images and has more detail and shadowing  than the newer style images… but lends itself perfectly to this vintage “shabby” look.  Because of the style it’s incredibly  quick and easy to  achieve this look, even if you aren’t a regular colorer.

Pencils and an alcohol blender pen.. a round stiff bristle brush and an ink pad…  no  hardcore precise coloring skills needed.  Even my 4 year old can dry ink these vintage shabby style backgrounds… in fact, if I recall he “hijacked” helped do this one lol.

The fancy edge border card is a cut file from CraftsUPrint “Over the Edge Floral Border 6”
Image is  Holly Hobbie Set 4
Colored with CraZart pencils, a home made alcohol blender pen and some Ranger Distress inks.  Fancy border has a Gelly Roll Stardust outline for a “lil bling”.

CraZart meets it’s match ….

Me!!! .. lol ..yup I was having another one of my “moments”

who knew a cheap set of pencils from Walmart and some blender alcohol could do that huh. I don’t really color with pencils….yeah you can probably tell LOL  These belong to my sons craft supplies, but we share nicely 🙂  The blender pen is actually  a Crayola refillable marker from a kids set that I picked up on clearance…. for a whopping $2.50 for a pack of ten refillable pens and the inks.  It is filled with Ranger’s Adironack Alcohol Blender Solution.

I was playing around with some more ideas and images on the Canson Mix Media paper and thought I’d have a play with coloring the whole image with pencils, not just the outlying shade effect.  Well I say whole image in pencil.. that is not totally accurate, I did indeed color it all with pencils… but I also added in a  top layer of gray “Pumice Stone” distress pen from the Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Pen Collection…and a spit of their green “ShabbyShutters”

This is “Edie” by Scrapper’s Delights.  I was going for an old gothic looking emerald velvet effect … I kinda like my grungy “dirty gurl”

The picture colors are a bit off… but hopefully I’ll get a better picture when i get her on a project 🙂  It’s 2:30 am… so it  won’t be  tonight lol.
