“A little Tutti Frutti” humorous Valentines card

I’ve been wanting to color this one for a while, but was waiting for the right moment to hit…  I am a creature of mood, so an image has to “speak to me” for me to really get into creating with it. Sometimes it is instant and I know the second I see it exactly what I need to do with it… specially those ones that tickle my bad sense of humor.  Others I have to let them grow on me and I bounce ideas around and then it hits me…

This was one of those projects.  I had the main image and the fun paper  done and sat waiting for  the finishing touches.. when it hit me.  I was just gonna have to write me a poem  LOL.   I hope you like it.

This is my DT project for the February 2017 Crafty Awesomeness Challenge and was created with an image from Cute As A Button, who is the February Sponsor.  Come on over and join in and share your projects.

This is IMG00221 Chiquita by Cute As A Button she was print and cut on the Cricut Explore and colored with a mix of Zig Kurecolor and Chameleon Pens. I popped some Glossy Accents on  the grapes and necklace for a subtle 3D feel.  The patterned paper is one I found on Etsy by AT Art Digital and you may have seen my “Do you digital?” post last week or two about these.

I printed this on my Epson Eco Tank, and then trimmed that down with my wavy blade on my cutter.  I added a black layer behind for impact which also has a wavy edge and then mounted it all on a card base cut from a Craft Smith paper pad using Zig Photo Tape.  The Pineapple was one of the Michaels $1.50 stamps and I stamped, hand cut and colored that. Sentiment die, I think was  a cheapie import???  cut on my Sizzix Big SHot

and the poem.. yup….  the poem…. that was all me…. sorry, having a “moment”  LOL.

Let’s face it.. not every girls is flowers and hearts.  I’ll take a good laugh over a bunch of flowers any day of the week.

Love this image, reminds me of Carmen Miranda…. yup… I know..showing my age again lol.

Hope you like it  🙂

“Catch of the Day” fun fishing themed card

I picked up another fun new cut file in my latest traipse over at CUP,  Tri-Fold Scalloped Top Card by one of my favorite SVG designers, Rae Carr.
cup_fishies

I recently picked up some new Gina Marie Dies “Gone Fishing” and  I had  grabbed this fun image from Bugaboo Stamps called Girlz – wiggle the bait to go with them.  Well as it happens, I have been waiting for  just the right project to use the paper stack I won from DCWV a few months back.. and this was it!  It’s a gorgeous paper stack called Coastal, filled with all sorts of cool  card sheets.. including some pearl foiled and printed linen pages. cup_fishies2 cup_fishies3
I added in a dual stitched frame  using my Lil’Inkers dies and added the catch of the day chalkboard look using a Zig Chalk Pastel Pen.  The inside  net was created using the lattice portion of the Gina Marie Lacey Lattice die set I got a month or so back.  The fish was colored with Tim Holtz Distress ink pads, as was the chalk board frame and the nets and rod.

The base card was cut from a Craft Smith solid color card stack on my Cricut Explore and the image was printed on Canson Mixed Media, then colored with Chameleon Pens.

Adhesives for this project were Zig Photo Tape and Zig 2 way glue.

I was naughty….this was supposed to be my DT project for the new Bugaboo Stamps Challenge starting on the blog in January… but I was impatient to share it.  Soooo…. guess I’ll be doing another project this weekend lol.

Be sure to subscribe to the blog, or follow me on Facebook etc if you want to be alerted to the new challenge.  All you Bugaboo Stamp fans, get your creative juices flowing..  this one is exclusively for Bugaboo Stamps Projects and prizes are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps every month.  Woo Hoo.. we love our Bugaboo Stamps, so the DT team are a bunch of happy little clams…. and ….we have a new DT  joining us for the Bugaboo Challenge too  🙂

Slightly off topic and I will be posting about this tomorrow  too.. I just had a quick peek  to see what new Gina Marie Dies are available and saw some fab deals on some Deep Red Rubber Stamps ..I was drooling over the vintage ones… specially at those prices.  They will be fab for my vintage/steampunk backgrounds.  AND for any of you old Cricut Explore owners who never got the Bluetooth Adapter... I also saw they have a handful of them available .. $10…… so if you always wanted one.. now’s the time to go grab one, they don’t have many in stock.

Perfect packaging for small gifts and stocking stuffers

What a cute way to wrap small gifts… specially those standby gifts for unexpected visitors, or small tokens of appreciation to  delivery drivers, colleagues etc.

  • candy
  • cookies
  • silk scarf
  • perfume/cologne
  • stocking stuffers
  • Blind bag toys
  • jewelry
  • lipstick
  • tree decoration
  • cash
  • Craft Supplies  .. and so much more

This is a great one sheet cut design… only one seam to glue or tape; really quick to cut and assemble…   tie  off the end, stuff, tie off the other end… and decorate as desired.  I actually added a reinforcement band  to mine, for looks and because it will be holding something a bit bulky.  Of course you can make these in any size you want, you can supersize it by splitting the design and using two glue tabbed sections instead and cutting each one on a larger sheet.

Fab way to wrap up  paint brushes, crafters pens and pencils, ink pads, embossing powders, stamps and other small items.  I like to hide presents on the tree as well as under it, so this is perfect for people like me  who like to keep a few hidden presents in plain sight.  These look to be the perfect size for those seasonal stamps at Michaels which we usually grab for the little guys collection.  Fimo Polymer clays would be fun in something like these too… and I bet this would be fab for making small craft kit gifts for kids too.  So many uses 🙂

This is a CraftsUPrint file by Rae Carr  called “175 Christmas Cracker Box”  I cut it on a 12×12 sheet of Craft Smith from their Silver Foil pad.  This particular cracker measure 10 inches in length and  is about 2 1/4 inch  squared.  The main storage area before it starts to curve  in is approximately 3 and a half inches. But of course, you can modify the cut file dimensions to suite your needs..as I did by unlocking the file dimensions if needed.

rae_crackerboxI added in the green glitter card band and  some matching ribbon ties, a few bells and some die cuts …  very easy file to assemble and decorate… and perfect for those of  you who find wrapping paper and tape to be like attempting brain surgery lol.

Love this file, definitely one I will be using a lot next year…. I am already planning ahead for next years projects.. * sigh  haha.  The fun thing is because of the design it could be used all year round, not just Christmas..it kind of looks like a big wrapped candy.

Lil Ms Muffet sat on her…

HA !!! you know you were expecting something sarcastic…. well NOPE .. not this time lol.
SURPRISE !!!!  Ok I confess I did  think about it, but couldn’t find anything suitable… funny yes, not very PC, yes…. suitable… Nope LOL

This is my DT project for the new October Challenge on the Cute As A Button Challenge Blog…“Ms Muffett”

Printed on Recollections 65 lb card stock and colored with Chameleon Pens and Zig Kure Color and a dusting of dry brushed Craft Smart Ink.  The edges were also inked up with Craft Smart ink pads in blue and black.

The card background is stamped using a bargain bin seasonal stamp from Michaels.  I love these $1.50 stamps they bring out for each season… they are fab for my lil man and I find myself stealing them for backgrounds lol. The sentiment is a die cut.. but for the life of me I can’t think who made it, I’ll add it into a supplies list later today. The sentiment was inked with black and blue inks, then I ran over it with a light blue Sakura Glaze pen which gave it a 3D relief and  added that finishing touch.

Club KennyK Challenge card.. with a twist….ed sense of humor.

The minute I saw her, I knew I had to have some fun with this one…. she’s just too dang cute to be scarey. I grew up loving 50’s music, songs like “Love Potion No.9”  and when I saw this image that is exactly what popped into my head.

So here she is..  my naughty lil witch looking for love.  “Book of Spells” by KennyK.  she is part of the New Releases that came out recently.  If you missed that post, go check them out 🙂

Colored with Chameleon Pens  then scanned in.. given digital borders and hearts and reprinted on canvas paper for a lush deep color and texture.  I love my Epson Eco tank Printer, I no longer worry about printing out  in color and heavy black borders… *wub and running out of Ink too soon.

She is foam padded for an elevated effect and the background card is from the Red 12×12 Craft Smith pads, punched with a Fiskars heart border for a little extra fun.  The close up below shows how gorgeous this canvas is….

I entered her in the current Club KennyK challenge over on Facebook… and I think I’ll be sending this over to one of my witchy friends so she can give it to her hubby…she’ll get a kick out  of this one  🙂

Bugaboo “Autumn Kidz” Velvet over the edge card

Some of you caught a WIP look at this on Facebook, but here she is.. all finished up and matted, popped on foam and overhanging the stitched frame.

She’s colored with Chameleon Pens and a touch of Zig Kurecolor and Marvy Detailer. sections of the image were cut in to overlap the frame while the main image remained behind the frame.  I am sure it has some fancy technical name, but heck if I know what to call it haha…I just know it’s cool. A couple of the smaller detached details were fussy cut and added to the frame where they should be in the original.

Both layers are foam padded for depth and the image is printed on Velvet Paper…. combined it gives the  card a lush soft feel.

Links and supplies listed below for anyone interested.

First off a close up through my Magnifier light to show off that lush velvet texture. Traditional blending styles will not work with this…. so if you are the type who has to blend to perfection, this is not the paper for you.  It works great with pencils too, but it does have a soft grainy effect look to it….so it may not suite everyone.  Me….I LOVE this paper… it suits my style and tastes perfectly.

bugaboo_velvet_autumn_wmd

..and here is the finished card, Very CAS ( clean and simple ). I don’t like to add sentiments to cards till I plan to use them; unless I already know who the recipient is, or the occasion. Quite often I just want to  use it as a note card, so I  keep them sentiment free.  I’m sure you have probably noticed that I am not a big fan of making overly fussy cards either and prefer to highlight the image and  in some cases humorous text.  It’s just my style….

bugaboo_autumn_card_wmd..anywho .. there she is… my Autumn Kidz.  I love these muted colors which is funny because hubby and I have argued color schemes and furniture since the day he moved in.  He is all about the browns… and I am all about the black furniture lol.

He must be rubbing off on me  LOL

Lil’Inkers dual stitch frame

Something I never mention, my scissors.  LOL I confess I do not own any “craft” scissors except the little pair that came with my Cricut tool kit.  I actually do most of my intricate cutting with.. erm.. hair dressers scissors lol.

I have an old pair of Triumph Mastercolor scissors from back in my UK days… these must be at least 20 years old and have NEVER ever been sharpened lol.  LOVE these scissors.  I have another set I use too… but I’d have to dig them out to figure out what they are lol.

Oversized East Wind Humorous Birthday Card…

I went trolling through Etsy’s Digi Artists the other night in search of something “new” and different.  I needed to get back to my roots a bit and stray off the “cutesie” path for a bit. AND….I came across a couple of Artists, one of which I had heard of, but never colored…..and one I hadn’t heard of. Both of which had Images that instantly appealed to me, so I grabbed one from each to see if they worked with my grungier style… Here is the East Wind image “Aurora Warrior”.

What can I say… I am a bit of a tomboy and have always loved the “tank girl” tom boy thing.  You don’t have to be a Barbie, to be Sexah!
ew_oldage_wmded
This is an oversized card… I love making these 6 x12 inch cards..so much room to play and perfect for those  employee Birthdays where half the office have to sign it.  Anywho, there she is in all her glory.

I colored  the image with Chameleon Pens, Zig Kurecolor, Ranger Distress Pens and a touch of Marvy Detailer…. on a sheet of Canson Mix Media.

She is bordered with a dual stitched rectangular frame by Lil’Inkers on Recollections black card and the image was partially fussy cut to bring elements up and over the frame.  The main image lays behind the frame.  I love doing these up and overs..<< None technical term.  I must do a quick tutorial showing how I do them one day.

The green striped paper is one I made in PSP and printed out on a white 110lb card stock and added a thin black frame for contrast.

The sentiment is one straight from my own warped mind and inspired by the image. As regular visitors know, I like to have fun with my cards. The letters are cut on 110lb white card using a Bottle Cap Alphabet Die by MFT ( My Favorite Things) on my Sizzix Bigshot.

..AND NOW….

I want to give a big shout out to fellow card maker and blogger Shannon Abblitt  who has constantly amazed and inspired me with her fabulous cards… and who exposed me to so many Cool East Wind images, that I just had to give them a try.  Thanks Shannon 🙂

School’s out for summer !!!

Cute school card project to work on over the summer…

This would make a cool card for good grade rewards, just slip in a little gift card/cash holder inside…. or congrats on educational achievements. Welcome to a new school card, thank you card for teacher… any number of things.

Using Cute As A Button’s image “IMG00293 School Days”   colored with Chameleon Pens, Zig Kurecolor and a touch of Ranger Distress Pens.  It’s double layered so the frame and girl overlay the ABC background. Foam mounted on a 4.25×5.5 inch Craft Smith card from their solid color textured pack using Kuretake (Zig) Photo Tape on Darice adhesive foam.  I love the Kuretake photo tape, it’s by far the best tape I have used so far on this foam.

Oversized Christmas Card ..so much fun

This card was so much fun to make,  most people have heard of Rick St Dennis and are well aware of his “darker” images.. the witches, the zombies the skulls and all the interesting things he has in his Etsy Store.

But something I noticed recently while chatting with people was, that they had no idea that Rick also has a more “mainstream” store too.  Let’s face it Rick’s never going to be accused of  producing “cutesie” images, but these are much softer subjects.. with  his distinctive style & flare still apparent.

I wanted to go ahead and show you  one of these  images today, as part of the new Crafty Awesomeness Challenge Inspiration Team.  I  had so much fun picking out this image… I managed to narrow my selection down to 6 images and that was a challenge all in it’s own I tellya.  Then I narrowed it down to two…. and finally decided on this one.

This image is so versatile…   looks great all on its own or  with all the extras… so it’s an image that can suit any style of card making.  My original plan was to make a CAS with a humorous  poem about a drunken Mrs Claus, but I think I’ll save that for another time  🙂

Anyway.. here she is .. this is Ricks St Dennis – North Pole Ho Down
