Humorous Christmas Card ..getting ready for 2017

This is a Bugaboo Stamps Friday Freebie, if you didn’t grab it..you still have a few days left to get it before the new Freebie comes out.  It’s called “Winter Penguin Trio”  I am still playing with Christmas images… nothing like getting a head start on next 2017 cards lol.

I knocked up a super quick and simple card. It’s just a single fold on an 8.5×11 sheet of Black card, the image was printed on Canson mixed Media and colored with Chameleon pens. I added the inside sentiment to the bottom of the photo, just so you get the intended humor.  The image is foam popped on a sheet of Darice foam and the sentiment is a die cut from a Momenta die I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby last week.  I cut it on black card then rewrote the sentiment with a Zig Chalk Pen.  Tore up the edges and sponged on a blue ink edging.bug_penguin_trio

Supplies:

Recollections 65lb card -Black
Canson Mixed Media Paper 7×10
Chameleon Pens
Zig Chalk Marker Dual tip – white
Momenta “Believe” die – Hobby Lobby clearance
Craftsmart Dye Ink Pad  –  Light Blue
Darice Adhesive foam sheet
Zig Photo Tape

Latest Die Haul from Ebay

I got my latest set of dies from  this morning.. the slow boat from China .. is getting much quicker  LOL

I recently discovered from a friend who is a die Designer  that  some of the Cheap dies are rip offs of other die designers products, so I try to be really careful with what I buy and so far I don’t seem to have picked up any of her designs…   but she has found them  for sale other places and I can imagine these designers are losing a lot of money… so if it doubt.. support your favorite designers.  A few extra pennies to keep these fab designs  flowing our way.. totally worth it.

We all love cheap craft  supplies, but I wouldn’t intentionally buy a knock off ..  that is just wrong to me and we need to support these designers and manufacturers who bring us such fab goodies.

ebay_dies_new

anywho.. here is my latest haul.  I don’t have a huge amount of dies so try and fill in with some cheapies when I see things I like and will use frequently… and of course who can resist a few sentiments and holiday designs?  These new gears and clock face will be perfect with my KennyK Stamps steampunk projects

3 inch circle shaker card windows for the iostamping globe

I had a lady inquiring about the shaker card windows I have, she has a die by iostamping that she could no longer buy windows for… well as it turns out, mine fit this die… so if you have a iostamping globe  die lying around unused.. now you can use them again 🙂
globedie
Just thought I would share the information; since it is not a die I own, so it’s not one listed onThe shaker card page as compatible.  Of course if you don’t already own it, you can pick that up too if it’s something you need in your collection.

Oversized Christmas Card ..so much fun

This card was so much fun to make,  most people have heard of Rick St Dennis and are well aware of his “darker” images.. the witches, the zombies the skulls and all the interesting things he has in his Etsy Store.

But something I noticed recently while chatting with people was, that they had no idea that Rick also has a more “mainstream” store too.  Let’s face it Rick’s never going to be accused of  producing “cutesie” images, but these are much softer subjects.. with  his distinctive style & flare still apparent.

I wanted to go ahead and show you  one of these  images today, as part of the new Crafty Awesomeness Challenge Inspiration Team.  I  had so much fun picking out this image… I managed to narrow my selection down to 6 images and that was a challenge all in it’s own I tellya.  Then I narrowed it down to two…. and finally decided on this one.

This image is so versatile…   looks great all on its own or  with all the extras… so it’s an image that can suit any style of card making.  My original plan was to make a CAS with a humorous  poem about a drunken Mrs Claus, but I think I’ll save that for another time  🙂

Anyway.. here she is .. this is Ricks St Dennis – North Pole Ho Down

Web-Banner
Ok Ok.. so maybe I am, yet again.. the last one to know about these guys.. but heh! I was hooking up some new affiliates and updating some old ones.  So as I always do, I had a poke around… my motto is, if I don’t want to shop there why would anyone else.  I don’t add affiliates I am not personally interested in.

But their clearance section… just the first page made me say oh heck yeah !

I could spend a small fortune in just the clearance alone.  They have a tonne of clearance Christmas dies that I would love to get my hands on … checks these out….some of these dies are less than $3.  I would love to grab some of the Halloween ones too… oh boy!

If you are in need of some dies for your collection, seriously check these guys out.  They do way more than just dies, but that is what I was interested in and poking around at … so that’s what I’m mainly posting about  LOL.

There are over 1500 items in the clearance… oh dear me..I am sooo in trouble LOL.  If anyone purchases anything from here, please let me know what you grabbed in the comments and be sure to come back and  let me know what you think of them.  Obviously I will too, but I’m craft budget broke this month, so I won’t be shopping just yet..I really hope some of this stuff is still available when i have some spare cash….

Shipping is free on orders over $50

May apologies to my girls …ENABLER ALERT !!! lol,  I found another fab die place for us …happy shopping  !!!! haha

Shaker Card Windows back on Ebay early January

sketch_4a

Shaker card with Rice

Things weren’t as crazy hectic as I thought they would be, so I’ll be relisting the shaker card windows a bit earlier than expected. I will update the links on the side panel when I relist them.

For all you new to Cricut and card making… here is a brief look at shaker cards. Now a lot of people use recycled packaging and acetate sheets. We had a challenge to do  shaker cards earlier in the year and everyone struggled to get them built without everything sticking to them

…. so that is how I ended up sourcing out a supplier and then decided to share,  since I wasn’t the only one having problems finding windows.

The idea is basically like making a snow globe on a card, or if you are adventuress like me…. I came up with a new concept..GAME cards. Those are really cool and fun to make.
The game cards are like those old hand held games we had as kids, where you roll it around till the balls fall in the holes.  A small pack of balls is included with the windows in case anyone wants to try this.  I have some new colored plastic ones now too, which are great for the kids cards.

These particular windows are 3 inch diameter circles and a 1/4 in height. They have a flange to glue them down.. so no more building up layers of foam to get the height and worrying about things sticking to the adhesives…. or trying to hide the edges. You can mount these in two different ways.. over  with a frame or under….through a cut out depending on your style of card 🙂

Here are a few quick sample cards…  so you get a better idea of what I am referring to.  You can see the original posts about making these shaker cards HERE

Christmas is coming – indoor snowball fights !!!!

Img_5924bb

We started a new family tradition for birthdays and Christmas when the lil guy was born, every holiday we blow up a huge bag of balloons and have a balloon fest, not practical for everyone.. but it’s a lot of  fun.

Anywho back to the subject in hand… if you want to start a new Family Christmas Tradition and don’t have room  for a cluster of balloons for days on end.. try this one. POM POMS !!!!

It’s a lot of fun, older kids can make them easily too and it’s a safe way to have an indoor snowball fight if you don’t have any snow. Now I picked these up last year and we had a blast on Christmas morning with the little guy.

I made ours in various colors and put them in the branches of the tree beforehand. It adds some fun color to your tree and it’s a great non breakable ornament that is cheap, kid and pet friendly..I have 4 cats, one of which loves to attack the tree ornaments * rolleyes.

I am sure we all remember how long  it took to make these the old way on cardboard… never fear… I ran across these really cool pom pom makers.  OMG these things make pom pom making a breeze 🙂 Now I just happened to have a big stash of wool from when I was pregnant and determined to knit at least one baby hat, but if you don’t… Wool is always pretty cheap and coupons and sales abound.  I just sat and made these while watching TV etc.

so what is this awesome pom pom lifesaver you ask…

Clover Pom Pom makers….

They come in a variety of sizes, I have a variety of sizes myself ….3/4 inch up to 4 and a half inches.

For the romantics, you can even get one to make heart shaped pom poms…however I haven’t tried that one myself.
