Mixing it up a lil’ with some fun new cut files.

Well there was a bit of everything in today’s crafty fun… Magnets, resin, Velvet paper, stickers, cut files, glue, enamel dots…and some window cling.  Not too bad for someone who hasn’t crafted for a while lol.

I was having fun with some new CUP files. These cut files make great backgrounds  and stencils for allsorts of projects.

Lizzie Mayne’s  Gears & Cogs Frame Card  …starting off with Captain Locke by KennyK, she’s a digital coloring I did  a while back  printed and mounted on silver foil paper and then a Cohas Magnetic Sheet cut  on the Cricut. I only used the front portion of the card file… but this comes in square and rectangle as full card files.

Lizzie Mayne – Cornish Grid 3. I had a lot of fun with this Black on Black project..Cohas Magnet Sheet, Black SEI Velvet paper, Black glitter resin Skull and some Black Gina Marie Designs enamel dots.  Nothing like mixing it up a lil’ haha.. but a pain in the hoo ha to photograph an all black project with various finishes haha

Lizzie Mayne – Dhalia Flower Mat Layer Stencil. This one was fun..I cut just one of the  3 layers in this cut file using  that fab velvet paper. Mounted it on card, then colored it with Zig Clean Color pens and a touch of Chameleon Pens.  I cut that out and sliced it in half …stuck it on this plain black envelope and then stamped some fun typewriter and text stamps in a faded white ink.
Just a fun way to decorate envelopes if you are sending a hand written letter, or just need an envelope and don’t want to be bo-ring!

Lizzie Mayne  –  Brick Wave Matt Layer Stencil.  Such a fun card to make.. it’s the perfect kinda project to do with the kids, or grandkids High contrast, super fast, super easy… cut file, some glue, envelope and a card and some fun stickers… and voila.. one High contrast cute card ready to go.  Makes a fun  card for any occasion.

Judith Henry- Lattice Hearts Embellishments. I cut this heart in Cricut Window vinyl and will be putting it on my new car… this is just one of the hearts included in the cut file.  I love how well this vinyl cuts on intricate designs and fine lines.

UnityStamps Laminated Bookmark “First love, First Hero”

Another quickie Bookmark featuring the Unity Stamp co stamp, “First love, first hero”.  Text was from an old paperback book hubby was throwing out… waste not want not lol. I stamped it up and colored it in distress marker, then inked the edges using distress ink pads. I mounted it on a piece of card, also colored in distress inks and then laminated it and punched a hole in it for a ribbon.   This is joining the growing Abandoned Art project bucket for our upcoming “mission”.

Laminated Bugaboo Bunny tags & matted art

Here’s the first of my projects  for the Bugaboo Crafty Challenge No.2 .. featuring Easter Bunny Line  by Bugaboo stamps.

I printed out & colored up my image on a sheet of Canson Mixed media. The original image I framed in a sage green photo mat that I managed to score in a local Walmart clearance section.  I picked up a bunch of  double mats and they will be great for abandoned Art projects. So here is the original hand colored image.

But.. before I matted it, I scanned and resized the image…added pin stripe borders and a “Happy Easter” border and printed and laminated these cute little Easter tags.

Thank you for visiting, I really hope we get to see some of your own Bugaboo Projects in the current challenge.

Decorated MDF Inspirational Frame

Well this is a new one on me…

I have always liked the look of journaling and bible decorating; but since I don’t journal..and I don’t do the Bible thing…. and I don’t really think it would look the same if I stamped  the HTML Bible, which is the only one I own lol.. this was my own take on the idea.  And yes, that is a real thing.. Google it.. it’s a book for Computer geeks who build websites etc.

anywho.. as I said, this is my alternate take on the whole journaling, bible stamping thing….

I took an Art Minds  12 x 12 MDF frame that I picked up at Michaels a year or so ago, coated it in diluted Mod Podge and  stuck  a sheet of Christmas text on it from a paper stack book I just picked up in the sales at Michaels.  It’s from the Recollections Christmas – Pinecone Lodge Paper pad ..I stamped it with Stazon Ink and a stamp I also picked up in the after Christmas sale which was a Poinsettia stamp and die set by Stampendous.  I had already stamped and colored it so I  took that copy and scanned it into my graphics program, then did a print and cut on my Cricut Explore to  add the  colored layer.  These have been sprayed with Mod Podge sealer which really makes the colors pop on printed images, if you are printing on a regular flat card stock like the Georgia Pacific, or Neenah 110lb.

I cut the believe sentiment in two layers; one black and one red to match the coloring on the poinsettias and the main image using a Momenta Die I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby…and of course my trusty old Sizzix Big Shot.

The Image is IMG00374 -377 Faith Fairies Bundle – Bible Journaling Bookmark Digital Digi Stamp by Cute As A Button and I printed it on Canson Mixed Media paper then colored her with Chameleon Pens.  I stamped a border  of ferns around her using Black Ranger Archival Ink and Green Crafts Smart inks and the Hero Arts Fern stamp I picked up….again.. yup..in the Christmas sales at Michaels.

This is my  project for the new Cute As A button Blog Challenge, we’d love to see you join us.

Gina Marie Designs – Quilted and Holiday Sentiment dies

As promised.. here are the details for the new dies I mentioned on Facebook .. for those who are “curious” Merrie Jone …. LOL

I have been wanting this particular die for a while now and finally had some spare pennies to go on a a bit of a craft splurge.  It’s been a rough year and my last big splurge was probably back in March time… uggity haha.  But things are starting to settle a bit and  so I had a little splurge, unfortunately the “want” outweighed the “cents” so I had to spread around my pennies to as many different places as possible to cover  it all.. and then there were still quite a few things I had to make a “this or that” choice on…  that was a tough call.

I have been coveting a full set of Zig Kurecolors and a full set of chameleons for EVER .. and that was one of the choices I had to make.. more Zigs, or  the Chameleon expansion..*sigh

….and I don’t know if you have ever seen the Gina Marie Designs die range… but trust me..there was a  whole LOT of this? or that? going on LOL. I can’t keep up with all the awesome  new designs that keep coming out.. but I am gonna try hahaha
gm_quilted_test

But anywho… that is a whole nother post.. DIES DIES DIES … here are the two Gina Marie Designs dies I just added to my collection.  The card was  just a quickie test piece… as the observant among you will notice… I stuck  the quilt panel on sideways by accident  oops LOL.  I tested it out with a sticky back patterned paper I had kicking around and some basic black Recollections card – from Michaels

It’s one of those dies you really need to pick the right papers for.. personally I think either a really small pattern, or a really big pattern would work best. And of course you can get some fab  effects by adding solid block colors too it too.

What I really like about this die is that you have so many options  PLUS.. maybe it’s just me, but this design reminds me of a Poinsetta ..so the perfect die for a Christmas card.

The second die is the Happy Holidays sentiment, I have a  very small collection of sentiment dies and  that is something I need to fix … so I am trying to add in a few here and there to my collection.

I shall be giving these new dies a  work out over the coming week.. so expect to see more  projects featuring these two.

Roses Frame and Gina Marie Designs Sympathy Die

Here’s another CraftsUPrint and Gina Marie Designs combo card….

The roses frame is part of a 4 pack cut file set by Tina Fitch again… can you tell I am really enjoying this designers cut files lately  🙂

cup_sympathy_wmded

Nothing major in the way of supplies… just 110lb white card stock, a sheet of pink 65 lb Recollections card and some purple Darice Adhesive foam.  Zig 2 way glue, Zig Photo tape, a Martha Stewart corner punch and  of course the Gina Marie Sympathy Die and CraftsUPrint cut file. I threw it on my Cricut Explore and left it cutting while I did other things… came back.. popped it off  the cutting mat and glued on my layers.

Craftsuprint Steampunk meets Gina Marie Designs

If you follow the blog you will have seen the recent 12×12 Steampunk page I did featuring “Brianna Blaster” from KennyK stamps and a Tina Fitch Craftsuprint clock cut file. The cogs that were used on that project for the background stencil and cog embellishments came from this kit, also by Tina Fitch. I personalized the cut file with some Gina Marie Dies.. using the lattice panel from the Lacey Lattice set I just bought and also added in a butterfly and sentiment, also cut from Gina Marie Dies.

Be sure to check out the recent post about weeding these intricate dies and the “crafters toothbrush”  and a couple of card projects using these dies in a much softer project.   Versatility  is very important to me, I’m on a tight budget and need my supplies to work for their keep ….it’s got to be something I can use again and again and get a fresh look each time.

The cogs were given a metallic finish using Faber Castell Gellato’s and the gold layer of the butterfly was a split from some dollar store gold glitter card. I split the glitter layer from the card layer to give it a thinner, softer touch. I love the cog section of this cut file… it’s such a great pattern and so useful for so many other projects too.  This one was cut from a SVG file on the Cricut Explore, but is available in other machine formats too.

Roving Reporter – Shopping Gina Marie Designs Dies by Merrie

Hi! My name is Merrie and I am doing a ‘roving reporter’ write up for CraftingCircle.

Last spring I was lucky and won a Gina Marie Designs ‘Sympathy’ die in a give-a-way on the CraftingCircle blog. It cut paper like butter, so I decided to see what else they had in their line. Imagine my surprise when I found out their store was in Michigan- and only half an hour from my son’s house. ROAD TRIP!

Scrapbook Outlet store front

Scrapbook Outlet

Comstock Park, MI 49321

Due to personal reasons I wasn’t able to go until a few weeks ago.  So, with my son, his girlfriend and her mother in tow- I headed to The Scrapbook Outlet. I was hoping to meet Gina herself. Unfortunately she wasn’t working that day, so I asked them to pass on a ‘hi’ from our group.

The store is small, but chock full of paper, stickers, stamps and of course dies! I must admit I did not check out the rest of the merchandise that closely. My focus was the GINA MARIE dies. I headed for them like a homing pigeon.
image2 image3It was hard to narrow it down, but I finally picked out 10 (my budget).

However, I have my eye on more of them and know what to tell my son he can get me for Christmas!

I made a card with 2 of the dies I got- tree frame and buck and die. I hope you like it.

Thank you Merrie for sharing your haul,  looking forward to seeing what you get  next visit and also all of the upcoming projects  🙂   – MsWipz

2 Quickie cards featuring Gina Marie Designs

Well as some of you already know… I picked up some new Gina Marie Dies this weekend. So, after showing you how easy the Lacey Lattice really is to clean with the Crafter’s Toothbrush, I thought I would show you a couple of quick cards.

gmd_dies_The card on the left features dies from 4 Gina Marie Designs sets and the one on the right
features 2 of the same die sets.  Details below for anyone interested.

The card on the left also has a large flower which is cut on the Cricut from a CraftsUPrint cut file I picked up recently, with a beaded center and hand colored leaves … and a little rhinestone bling bling for the petite flower centers.  The Lacey Lattice was also given a coat of Ranger Distress Ink “Picket Fence” and some Wink of Stella  for a subtle vintage look.  the small flowers also have a lick of Wink of Stella.

The card on the left features a lacy lattice cut as a nested die set…and the one on the right was cut using the dies separately and a black layer was used for a subtle contrast and to tie it into the black butterfly and offset text.  I didn’t realize I had glued the text on a bit wonky till I took the photo.. DOH… practice makes perfect ..right  LOL.   The one on the right  has a Darice polka dot strip border, which was highlighted with some pink rhinestones.

All in all a quick and easy card to make , specially if  you like to use dies like these to combat the scrap bucket issue….and already have  a stash cut and ready to go.

I had to laugh when I showed a friend a sneaky peek and got this response…

“Is this SAMANTHA??????? The one I have known for over a year now! LOL”

followed by

“They are gorgeous but they are different for you. I am lovin that softer side of you ha ha ha”

Don’t get to used to it…. lol
