March Artists Challenge

Sorry guys and gals.. running a little late this month….

But lets get this party started… see if we can convince a few more of you to  put pen to paper..or mouse to pad..or finger to blood.. however you do your thing….  heh.. no judgement is art right haha  Once you have seen a guy who caters his diet to produce poop of certain shades so he can paint with it.. and then people actually buy it… nothing and I mean NOTHING surprised me when it comes to  creative minds lol.

I forget the  name of the show, but it was some crazy show back in the UK late at night with.. two french guys and a couple of stick giraffe’s.. yeah don’t ask.. Pee Pee and po po I think they called them lol.. the giraffes that is. and then of course the chick with the biggest pair of boobs I have EVER seen… yeah  that was one crazy show… I am sure someone will know what I am talking about… it was like they traveled the world looking for the weirdest people and habits and lifestyles they could find..and trust,e .. they found A LOT of  them lol.

Anyone remember the show I am referring to?

anywho..  back on track.. thank you to everyone who  joined in last month… love seeing what new stuff you all come up with…. so.. what have I got for you this month?

“Up close and personal”

Inspiration for those that need it:

I’d love to see some nice tight close crop images….something for everyone to practice skin, hair, texture type techniques on, head shots or closer.  Whether your head is an animal, human, robot, alien or flora… or anything else you can come up with.

If you really want to be up close and personal..  how about a self portrait… show us how YOU see YOU… even if it’s not “realistic”

  • Each artist may enter up to 10 individual NEW digital stamp images per given theme.
  • Images can go on sale as soon as they have been entered into the challenge.
  • You may add single images, or link to a blog post with up to 10 images..but each image must be entered in the challenge linky individually.
  • You may showcase the images in color, or projects on your blog links should you wish to show off  inspirational images too.

Note to self… crafting hauls….

Should really wait till you actually have time to craft!!! LOL  Sadly this little lot doesn’t even include the pens and such I ordered last month and still haven’t had time to play with properly .. but dang me and the lil man are gonna have fun next year  LOL.. I hope!

This little lot includes 3 Blitsy orders
Chameleon Pens from Hobby Lobby and refills and nibs order from Chameleon Pens
CraftingAbility order
Stazsh Up order
and an order of Cricut Blades that a special lady gifted to me 🙂

It also doesn’t include CraftsUPrint cutfiles and various artists digital stamps I might have grabbed this  month *grin

And I already put away 1 Scrapbook Outlet order of Gina Marie Designs Dies, Crafting Ability Order and a Blitsy order that I showed you sneak peeks at the end of last month..mostly pens.  I am making up for almost 8 months of virtually no craft shopping  🙂  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME !!!

I’ll be showing some of these a bit more closely in upcoming posts and projects..  but if you have any questions, leave a comment 🙂

Saucy card — Imagine that !!! lol

Who woulda thunk it huh.. me doing something a bit saucy.. huh LOL

Don’t panic it’s not THAT bad..but it’s definitely NOT a mermaid, or a cute fairy  ..sorry M.. no butterflies either lol.  This is the second of two images I picked up by new artists, to me at least.  This is
cham_ho_canvas_mount_wmded cham_ho_canvas_mount_wmded_closeupcham_ho_closeup_canvas
She was hand colored, then scanned into the computer so I could add some borders and print her out on Canvas Paper.  I frayed up the canvas edges… which sometimes is easier said than done, but I love that slightly grungy look.  This particular Canvas Paper is something I have had for YEARS…  but it isn’t widely available anymore   :/ I did find one place still selling it… in small packs of 2 if anyone wanted to give it a try.  Sadly, a lot of my specialty papers that I love are no longer available… so once I get through my stash… I shall have to look for alternatives.

She was colored with Chameleons and Zig Kurecolor,  my goto combo for most projects and a Zig Memory System Chalk Pen for the card background.. I love how nicely they play together 🙂  I added in some extra detail under the skirt area to give the impression of sheer frills…it’s kinda hard to see in the pics though.. sorry.

The image is “Arcadia Pin-Up” by ShadowClocksyDigis  which you can find on Etsy and also Facebook.  She is foam padded with a sheet of Darice Adhesive foam and the sentiment is a Heidi Swapp die.

Joann has Darice folders 5 for $10 so I grabbed  5 of the ones I don’t have for my collection. This includes BOTH sizes of folders in the 5 for $10 offer,  but they only had  2 of the bigger ones I wanted.  I also picked up a Fiskars stamp 30% off  🙂

Stamps Fiskars “Up in the Air”

Darice Folders :

Top Left – Flower Frenzy 5×7
Top Middle – Plaid Background 5×7
Top Right – Buttons Assorted 4.25 x5.75

Bottom Left – Multisized Dots 4.25 x5.75
Bottom Right – Scroll Frame 4.25 x5.75

Bugaboo Bear Easel Card

Just a quickie card that could be for any occasion… I  popped a “Imagine” sentiment on this one as an inspirational desk piece for someone. It’s a bright cheerful card with popped elements for depth.  I trimmed the front edge shorter with a wavy blade on my cutter, because I didn’t want to decorate that space.

This is also my March card for our March 2016 Bugaboostamps/Executioner Combo Challenge

  • Card Base Sizzix Circle Stand Ups Movers/Shapers Die, X-Large
  • Card Base cut on Recollections Card
  • Sentiment cut from scrap card using an unknown Die sentiment I picked up on clearance
  • Image from BugabooStamps “Theodore Flowers”
  • Colored with Chameleon pens and Ranger Distress markers
  • Butterfly dies are part of a die and stamp set, unknown brand and popped on Darice Adhesive foam and the smaller ones are a punch.
  • Flowers are  from Paint Shop Pro shapes tool and popped on foam

Printable grids for Die alignment

I picked up a QuicKutz® We R Memory Keepers™ Genius Ultimate Magnetic Platform set for my Sizzix Big Shot a few days ago on clearance from Michaels and it is fab, however…. it still doesn’t help my lousy sense of aligment LOL.

THIS however does.

I found these grid templates online, printed and trimmed one down to size and I pop this under my dies when I am cutting multiple shapes to create frames. Works a treat for people like me who seem to have lost their straight and narrow lol.  It is particularly useful for me since I have all these new Gina Marie  and Lil’Inker dies and I want to combine them to create offset double stitched frames etc …but they aren’t the same ratio.

I didn’t want to  attach it, so I printed mine on 110lb card and it works fine.  It is heavy enough to stay put and doesn’t interfere with the magnetic abilities of the base plate.

You can find a bunch of free templates for printable grids here at Weblogroundup.

These would work well for lining up other projects, such as rubber stamps, assembling layers on cards. Always a handy thing to have kicking around, you never know when you will need  a grid for something.
