March 2016 Creative Coloring Card Challenge

Postby MsWipz » Mon Feb 29, 2016 12:58 am

Creative coloring challenge -Modified - There will no longer be a provided image for this challenge.... you can use any image you have the rights to use and color. You may simply color an image on a sheet and be done.. or you may turn it into a completed project... the main focus of this challenge is to improve your coloring skills.... so I would expect to see more complex images as you progress. Regardless of your competency or level

Let's see what you got this month ladies... February was great... let's rock this coloring :)

Here's my Coloring Challenge for the month of March. This was really a learning experience. The cute image is a stamp from Mo Manning and I've had it for ages. I stamped it on water color paper and put a little water color "resist" around the edges of the imagine. Wow...I ended up with a big mess. I didn't realize that the water would smear the Memento ink. I was able to erase some of it and color the rest over with my Copics. I made the falling snow using the end of a paint brush dipped in white paint. I then decided to make it a "Shaker Card." The frame is cut and layered with a Die-Namics die cut about 6 times. The snow flakes are also Die-Namics. The "filling" was something I bought at Christmas with the idea of using it in a shaker card.

I really like the card because I was able to "save" it when it really should have ended up in the trash! It needs a little "sentiment" on the front and I will look for something later. It will be my first card for next winter.

Thanks, Dee

Wow Dee- talk about taking broken eggs and making an omlette! I love this. It looks like you are looking thru a frosty window where some of the 'details' are blurred   . Now 'I' see that all the time, but how did you figure that out in Florida? BTW, trip postponed a day. Digging out- 10+ inches of snow yesterday. Yuck

Dee your card is just darling. I love the idea of the shaker card with the snow.
Awesome job coloring and great save. I have had a little problem with Memento ink
and watercolor. You would think if it stood up to Copic it should be OK with water.
I heard that StazOn black and Stampin Up Black works get with water color

You're off to a running start this time.

Oh gee Merrie...10-inches of snow! Well, the sun is waiting for you here and it seems like we were in the middle 80s yesterday.

Donna...I do have Stazon and will use it next time. I just never gave it a thought before I stamped the image.

That's awesome Dee..and if you hadn't have said anything I would have just assumed you were using the old 40/50's style vintage card look.

Hello all, I am afraid I will be MIA for a couple days.
Something happened to my shoulder today and I wasn't even doing anything
all of a sudden it was like someone stabbed a knife into it.
Ouch ouch ouch.

I went to the ER and I have tendonitis in my left should.
Gave me a shot, valium, pain pills and prescription Ibuprofen.
I have to ice it. t doesn't feel very good to type so I will just be looking
and not saying anything till it feel better, definetly don't want to re-aggravate it

I am just glad it was not my rotator cuff because it would be hard to
have surgery, as it is now I can barely use my left arm to walk with my walker

Dee- that 10 inches was after 13 last week! Of course it got up into the 50's over the weekend so most of the 13 was gone before the 10 came. The joys of Michigan in springtime. LOL. Dug out and main roads are clear, so take off today when our cat/house sitter gets here.

Dee/Donna- don't forget Memento ink is waterbased and that is why you can color over it with Copic/SN. They are alcohol and don't react with Memento. Water makes Memento bleed. I think Stazon is not water based, so you could use water over it (not sure on that, would have to try).

Donna- so sorry about your shoulder. Take it easy and 'lurk' like I usually do.

This is my March Creative Coloring card using a colored image from my practice pile. I'd be lying if I said I could remember when I colored the main image exactly.. but since I added to it and mounted it..I am classing it as a March project :angelic-little:

I started to post on this earlier this morning and lost the post! Great card and I like how you combined the images. Nice coloring too.

Dee

Just read on the blog that you turned it into an envelope with a window. Cool!
